Good to see hes finally kicking the smoking habbit.

My hope is if Rioli and Shai feed off and try to out do each other we could be on for an epic ride ...here,s hoping
And maybe Throw Stengle into that mix too in a few years
Well everyone is always bleating on about X factor ,well we got that in spades now
Bit like betts & gartlett

Scharenberg not even rookied, every club must see something about him that is not AFL standard
Care to reassess your opinion of taking him in the 3rd round?

Mate wasn't the only one who is surprised he didn't get picked up. People had Graham going in the top 20. So even the "experts" get it wrong.

I missed your view on the draft mate. What was it again?

Starting to sound like we have a super high return, quite high risk pick here.

If he gets it together the 'best forward in the draft'!!!!! Seriously!!!

I'm just hoping that he and Rioli can partner as crumbing forwards and attacking mids. Although I suspect Rioli might be a genuine quality mid. Seems ot have his head on straight and heaps of ability. Love the fact that he (Rioli) is putting on muscle already).

Back to Shai. Sometimes you just have to take quality. If he gets to AFL level soon he adds a really dangerous impact edge to a quite vanilla team. Love the look of this.

there ya go people lebois went one pick before stengle they both have as much chance of making it as a sml fwd as Bolton.
Look for the smalls later in the nd or rookie draft.
What is your logic for saying they have as much chance as Bolton?

You certainly cant attempt to address anything if you only have 3 nd picks and only one is in the top 50.

I dont believe he was anywhere near best available and with our first pick being at 29 this yr i believe it could have gone on greatest need.

We just used a first round pick last yr on a sml fwd. we have a mature sml fwd who kicked 35 goals this yr and we have two other very young sml fwds in Butler who has suffered because of injury and Short as a junior was a Fwd but we have chosen to play him elsewhere. then there is edwards who does not spend much time fwd but his best yr was probably in that role.
The list is littered with smalls including Yarran who does not come off the list until the end of 2017 about a third of the list is made up of them.
I would label 14 players as smalls on our list and we continue to basically ignore our tall problems yeah sure we took a tall at pick 70?odd. it amounts to tokenism and means we go into a season with the club and many supporters expecting a top 8 finish with just Astbury lol, Rance and now an 84kg kid taken at 72 in the draft as kpd options. It is a similar story with out kpfs as well.

I wasn't referring to just the ND cos that's not the only time we got players in the off season.

If you look at the overall off season, we took several inside midfielders, a ready made ruckman, a developing backman a small forward and an outside/creative forward/winger.

And yes we have Lloyd, I am big wrap for him but he is 27. So probably only has 2-3 years left before he starts slowing down/retiring/being overtaken by the kids we've just drafted. It's almost like it's good list management haha.

And Short is being played in the backline currently, not the forward line. Agreed with Edwards, but again he is 27/8 and splits his time pretty evenly or mostly towards the midfield. Plus he hasn't stood up in finals.

And I agree about trading into the draft, I was spewing we gave up pick 6 but I'm also pretty flippin' happy to have two first rounders next year as it gives us options and flexibility.

And how are you including Yarran? He is on the list on paper and nothing else. He does not count towards our options for players so you can't include him.

And taking the best one on one defender isn't tokenism, it's seeing a player who was rated around 40-50 and taking them in the 70's, Especially when you look at Rance, Leppa and Truck. He has every chance of making it and I am actually really confident in him.

I don't think you'll find anyone who thinks we are set for KPP, Astbury is servicable, but could obvs be upgraded. But how many teams have two AA KPD? I am not saying it shouldn't be the aim, but it shows how hard it is. Elton obvs hasn't made any impact yet and is on his last year. Griffiths is in and out of game, literally (cos of injuries) and form wise. But he has shown to be capable but without consistency. Nankervis has shown he can play forward as well as ruck. The rest are rookies (or maric) and obvs nowehere near the grade.

My point was it can't all be fixed in one go, but now it's pretty much all we need (in terms of list structure). We've addressed what we could this off season, and we will focus on KPP next year when we are in a good draft/trade position and the draft is highly regarded for KPP talent.

Don't forget about Morro, he's another one-touch small forward. One-touch per game.
