Do we tag just for the sake of tagging? Powell's losing midfield minutes. What do we do next year? Another pre season into Powell, Colby and Duursma all wanting minutes in the middle.
He has a role in the side at the minute that’s working. What happens next year, time will tell. Colby can play wing and half back and Duursma is not ready.

Duursma......A midfielder
Colby ...... A midfielder

Try half fwd flank and winger

There is a spot in the midfield for Will.

He needs another pre season and become an endurance beast and he will complement the midfield

A great side is made up if everyone doing there role for the benefit of the team and the club.

Not necessarily in there best or ideal positions individually.

I saw Powell Phillips and LDU starting mid yea

Then I saw Wardlaw Sheezel and Phillips

Seemed to work okay

Lol, two weeks ago Phillips had no talent. Now we're back to having too many elite midfielders.

Strange that our midfield structures looked competitive with Phillips doing defensive stoppage work... 🤔

Jy’s midfield minutes would be divvied up surely?

Colby played the majority of under 18s as a midfielder, so yes. Duursma has all the attributes to become a great midfielder and had 25 and 3 playing more mid minutes in the VFL so yeah.

Firstly - I have no issue with taggers as a role. Even if they don't win huge amounts of the ball it can be a critical role. I remember a well known tagger (name escapes me) saying they are defenders playing in the midfield.

You don't get cranky about the fullback getting 0 possessions if they keep a dangerous forward under control. So what's the big deal if a tagger gets low possessions but disarms one of the major playmakers?

Secondly, Will is one of the few North Melbourne players who get possession and I calm slightly, confident they will usually make and most likely execute the right decision.

The others would be Cunnington (thanks Tas), Sheezel, Boomer and Carey.

Slightly behind them are Higgins and Wells.

Only speaking about reliability in decision making and execution.

If he takes Bont this week, we need to be careful when they send him forward.

When he goes forward, Phillips does not follow because Bont has great hands and height on him. Let one of the defenders take him and Phillips gets a spell to reset.

Dawson - JUH
Comben - Lobb
Corr - Darcy
Archer - Weightman
Ford - Dale
Curtis - Richards
Phillips - Treloar
Wardlaw - Liberatore
LDU - Bontempelli

I reckon with another preseason more distant from his bouts (twice including the relapse) of glandular fever, and with more time in the system with another preseason he will really blossom. Love his commitment to the club, especially despite him being in and out of the team. He hasn’t lost faith or have his eyes on a future elsewhere. Loved the steely-eyed attitude pre-game before taking on Daicos. Absolute no-nonsense and take no prisoners face it was. Good skills and decision making that will return with the confidence of the team and the coaching staff evident in him. Good character for team culture building too.

If he keeps this up I reckon he might have stamped lazzaros papers. Had those 2 fighting for a spot on the list
No offence to Laz but Wil is in a different stratosphere as a footballer. Laz had his chances, didn’t take them. Wil’s taking his. It’s amazing how many people freak out about a player working on stuff in the twos, albeit I was guilty of it with Ford. But look at Eddie’s game without the ball now. Look at Kal Dawson. Look at Philips.

Clarkson knows what he is doing - name me a single player that has regressed this year? Stephens doesn’t count.

Easy.
Tarryn Thomas. 😊
