Not really strangely enough. Not because I think we are a certainty, just feel like we have nothing to lose. Might as well go out swinging and go as deep as we can with the pedal flat to the floor.

The season is already a success for us just qualifying for finals with all the injuries we've had and everyone writing us off so anything else is a bonus

I still want to win at least one final though and I'm sure RTB and the players do too so a loss will still be disappointing but as long as we give it our all and have a hard fought honourable loss we can't be too disappointed, only a flogging will be a truly bad result for us but I doubt that will happen.

Very disappointing the coaching staff had all the pre- season to decide who was our best full back and they still overlooked Cordy.

Then they stupidly gave Howard 18 games in a row.

Lucky for the coaching panel that Dougal got injured otherwise they'd still be making the same mistake.

we shouldn't be surprised
Well they missed Campbell as our ruck

We have our strongest team all year and are playing in Melbourne. We beat them already this year in our worse form of the year - in between the Adelaide and Hawthorn losses and we haven't lost to them since 2019.

GWS are apparently the form team of the competition but I don't see it. A win against Carlton in a dead rubber, a win against the injectors who overdosed their season, a 50 point loss to Port, a loss to Sydney and close win against the Bulldogs.

They might beat us in the middle, but our back six have been great all year and I think they will stand up again.

It's a blessing that he did. I was calling for his omission for weeks so I didn't care too much that it ended up being a forced change, now everyone can see how much better off we are.

To your question he would've kept playing because we didn't know any better but injury creates opportunity and we found out that hey, there's a guy on the list that most think isn't as talented but he's here outperforming our starting 22 KPD by a mile so let's keep him in.

For me the decision is piss easy and honestly don't know what people are watching if they reckon he is going to make us a better side.
My two cents on Howard is this. Cordy definitely looks the better option at present but it is a small sample. My defence of Howard is that his mistakes are magnified by virtue of him often being the last man standing in defence. It's not a roll that suits him. Or many players for that matter. Even a talented player like Sincs makes a couple of mistakes a game but usually they aren't in dangerous positions so are easily glossed over and forgotten post game.

My criticism of Howard is his seeming reluctance to play anywhere but defence. A 2 metre mobile player like him should be an asset not a liability. He's athletic for his size, has a good spring and can actually take a good mark. It seems though he's content to go the spoil every time. A decent field kick as well.

He should be the chop out for Marshall. I don't see him as too dissimilar to Lobb and Stanley on ability, but he seems hellbent on having a career solely as a defender. His reluctance to play elsewhere will probably cost him his position at the club and maybe his career.

Honestly think on paper it is a 50/50 but I trust Lyon to leave no stone unturned and nothing in reserve. To me that pushes it slightly in our favour and the packed MCG with loud Saints fans gives us a decent reason for confidence.

I agree.
(Just hope the coaches and players don’t think that way though.) 😉

To be fair Corz came to us in less than ideal condition and was well below AFL standard, had it not been for our injury crisis, especially in the tall forwards department, it's quite possible Cordz would be now looking for a ammos side to play for. Lucks a forturne though and here we are. Let's not forget Dougs closing spoed and elite kicking efficiency was well part of our great defencive setup...we did have a good defense this year yeah?

Cordz looked like a rock start in the past 2 games when the midfield broke even...

Having said all that, a really good problem to have, but I think the ole 3 second memory is at play on this debate.
