Guts effort from your guys, especially missing your Ruckman and best tall defender

There was so much of that game that reminded me of our (Lions) game against Richmond in the QF LAST year.

Like we did in that game , your Saints missed so many opportunities to put meaningful scoreboard pressure on them.

They are beatable and we proved that last week.

All the best for 2021 :thumbsu:

Need to move on the midfield plodders. Smart recruiting required.

Byrne and Bytel will get there, and Clark has proven his midfield ability, HBF grow on tree's to replace him. Actually i don't mind Sinclair in the back half.

Obviously disappointed but imo you couldn’t have a harder final. Lost some key players and certainly weren’t far off the pace against the premiership favourite

It’s a successful season with not a single home game and saints will be better for it. An up and coming list with only improvement to come

It's been a brilliant season overall, lost some games we shouldn't have, won some we weren't expected to, grew along the way from where we were and where we wanted to be.

This game was over in the fist 5mins for me. You need to go in with intent, you need to go in wanting to play hard, tough, fast and despite being down in clearances we were still able to hands on in the back half and then being outworked, when we did move forward, there was almost literally no effort to detain, no effort to run, no effort to do much outside of 1 effort already made and the ball just went back out with ease.

From that moment you are chasing arse, I do not care how skilled you think you are, you are working harder for everything you do and you have no body to blame but yourselves for it. Now chase.

We did well enough to equalise it where we still had shots on as they did, but they were able to get more reward than we were, they were cleaner, they were better in transitioning it, and the chase slowly died off. To still be within 4 goals at the last change, there is still a chance to win in a low scoring match as 1 goal means more than if you are 12 goals v 16, as you get a mini run and suddenly the lead is halved, then 3/4 and then you're within a goal and head drop as not much time left.

Unfortunately we weren't good enough on the day, they got the luck on the day, shit happened around it.

I look forward to half their side not playing the next game though, as the potential for injury this match was monumental.

Disappointed but not surprised.

4 best 22 players out against the reigning premiers.

We were just well and truly out classed despite getting ourselves plenty of opportunities.

Pretty obvious we just need to keep adding to that midfield where possible.

Really missed another big back to help Howard out tonight. If Carlisle is no good next year that's number 2 priority.

Genuinely think we are pretty good around the ground outside of that.

Anyway, proud of the year and excited about what is to come.

10/10 year guys. If you had have told me I'd be melting hard about a close loss to WC because it jeopardosed our chances for finals in January I'd have laughed at you. We we're rightin this tonight, jud6t didn't convert. Much like Brisbane last year whodominated aside for the scorebard., hopefully we step forward like they did after the lesson.

Need some big time midfielders and better depth. Lots tp be proud of tonight. Onto the draft thread

I cant be unhappy with this result. Just cant. They didn't under perform or not put in the effort.

Theyve exceeded expectation and really taken a giant step.

Gone from a 14-10th side to a top 6 side.

Coaching got better as the season went on. Started to implement a plan b and c.

Some smart coaching moves in the last two finals too.

I think gags has a base to work with now. Just needs to be smart with the trade and draft game.

Then reboot for a big pre season.

Where we lost the game..
1. Marshall smashed in the ruck and mids consequently smashed in centre clearances.
2. Gears moving to backline after qtr time and Houli having a blinder with 32 disposals running off the back of the square unopposed.
3. poor goal kicking is poor football. It’s no coincidence in the 1st week that teams that won were the wins who were more accurate.

Oh well.. hit the trade period hard and next year there’s no way we’re losing to Richmond again. Good learning curve for the boys.

Thanks..
I'd really appreciate it if the Lions could kind of...HURT THEM!!! HURT THEM SO BAD THEY WANT TO QUIT FOOTY!!! SMASH THEM!!!!
We really would be grateful.

A home GF in Brisbane will be kind of romantic.

Not going to scapegoat anyone tonight. If we reverse our goals and behinds and actually kick accurately like we have all year then everyone is positive- and yet most of the guys you are potting weren’t at fault for the poor accuracy.

We’ve had a great season to even get here. Very proud of the club to turn things around like we have. We will attract a couple new boys this trade period and continue our development next year.

Going to get started on putting together some highlight reels for our players pretty soon.

Up the Sainters!

In the end they got the jump on us and we were chasing bums after that.

So proud we didn't just roll over after being 5 goals down at half time. We easily could have.

Won't focus on the negatives, I'll leave that to others. So... the positives:

Clark amazing. His composure is something to behold. Showed he is a big game player

Roma fought hard. Missed his brother in arms in Paddy but worked his guts out. Especially in the 1st half. Ran out of gas in the 2nd

Coff was solid. Again took some nice intercept marks

Wilkie very composed.

Steele held his own in the middle. Much more impactful than last week

Winx has the tools to tear a final apart when he gets some more help and some more meat on his bones

Very proud of our year. Thank you Saints. You made it fun

Very disappointed in Lynch. I knew he was a campaigner but he is an embarrassment. Fake tough guy. Hope he gets Covid .
Glory Hunter. Have no respect for guys who jump to flag certainties.

We tried our hearts out, in unfamiliar surrounds, with little pointy end experience, and key players missing.

Our kids stood up, out of nowhere. Our recruits did plenty (overall). We made ourselves a destination club.

Now, IMO, is not the time for recriminations and venting, though that’s just me, but rather for looking back on everything we achieved this season, and being bloody proud.

Next year will be mighty interesting. Do we improve? Do we stagnate? How do we handle the increased pressure and spotlight that will come with expectations arising out of this year?

Time will tell.

It’s been a bloody bright spot in a shithouse prick of a year. Be thankful fellow Saints.

There were 21 players in the red, white and black that put in tonight. They weren't good enough and that's OK, it happens. Effort, however, is non negotiable. Putting your body on the line when its your turn is a non negotiable.

For shame Hill. You embarrassed our jumper tonight, and sadly not for the first time this season.
New nickname for Hill - Benny
