Unrelated topic, I hear that obesity makes you more susceptible to dehydration.

And therefore a lot of licking of lips.

Curious.....

Well there's that, and the chicken salt still lingering around.

Reckon the best indicator of his current physical state is the deal we apparently have on the table: one year.

Actions speak loudest.

Not sure if you guys had read...... one of the most reliable posters over on the Blues board has stated Gumbleton failed a medical at Carlton.
The one year contract is on the table for a reason.

I can understand why Carlton would err on the side of caution, given the non-durability of their talls.

Suspect the medical examination involved dropping a piano on him.

"CFC: KPPs must survive piano hit or jog on. If you can."

I predict a trade, followed by months of abuse toward the club, followed by him playing a serviceable game in the NAB Cup with 3 goals, followed by abuse going into hyper-overdrive amid claims he’s a “lock for AA”... he’ll then play 3 games next year, we’ll never hear another word about him... someone will raise it again one day, and everyone will say Hird and the club made what was always the correct, tough decision, and wonder why we were so soft by giving him 6 years in the first place, footy is a cutthroat business ya know.

Robbo, Venom Denham and Jon Ralph will lead this merry dance.

:thumbsu:

Guy here at work reckons a possible 3 way trade on the cards, possibly involving Eagles (he's originally from Perth and Eagles fan).

Our doctors know Gumby so well by now maybe they realise he's a good chance that things will never be right with him. Or maybe they think Daniher is going to be so good it doesn't really matter!!

How could you pass a medical at one club and fail at another? Surely medical opinion won't differ that much.

After all the time we've spent rehabing a guy with enough talent to kick two goals a game with no pre-season, and now we trade him for a pick in the 20s?

Well doctors, much like footballers, differ significantly in their abilities. It could happen.

Abilities is probably a little unfair.

Attitudes is more the issue. Respective clubs may have set different criteria for Gumby to pass a medical.

Have you seen Carlton's doctor?

Just not true (the Eagles fan bit). If you look at his original draft information his was a fremantle supporter, also well known that the whole family are big Freo supporters.

People are getting far to sentimental. Sure he's a great story but I see nothing he adds to Essendon as a player. Sadly his type of playing style is not what the modern game demands. With Daniher, Ryder, Bellchambers all similar heights I think that we have his posistion covered. If we could get a second round pick and use it on someone like a BEn Jacobs of Port Adelaide them I'm all for it and hope Gumby has a great career, just can't see it being with us

He kicked a smidge under two goals a game this year, and that was without a proper pre-season. Yes forwards like him are out of vogue, but we should keep him 'til at least Daniher is ready (prob 2 years).
