The potential meter is off the charts but he hasn't or isn't doing anything yet, it's all flashes and glimpses. We are so starved of guns that we have already proclaimed one before he's even left the holster
Great, now I can’t leave my desk due to the absolutely raging mongrel this induced

Think you’re both right. To be fair he is showing basically the same flashes that other gun forwards have shown at the same time of their careers.
There is a reason to be excited.
I think the problem is we are so desperate for a key forward we are trying to piegon hole him as one. To me he clearly does his best work running at the goals. I think he’d kick more goals and have far more influence as a high half forward/mid than as a deep forward and would have shown more complete performances by now if we’d play him like it.The potential meter is off the charts but he hasn't or isn't doing anything yet, it's all flashes and glimpses. Best case scenario for mine is we sign Edwards as a Fristich esque full forward and run Caddy with more freedom.
Agree. CHF is his spot.Caddy is pretty much a true CHF; hard running, gets high up and the ground and works back, strong contested mark.

I can see him playing a Bayley Fritschtype role for us if coached well, with his ceiling being higher.PLAYERCARDSTART31Bayley Fritsch

Langford definitely owns his spot in the side but he’s no Fritsch.
He can be our Kyle Langford on a wing. Just putting it out there.
Don't think he's got the speed Fritsch does to get as many marks.
Fritsch is more like a Gary Rohan type, who's not shit.
Trying to make the first true key forward that we've drafted since Lloyd a mid is peak Essington if I've ever heard it.
Caddy's praise would seem out of place if it wasn't for the fact that it's industry-wide.
He just needs time. Playing him out of position would do nothing but hinder him.
You call for a Fritsch esque, that's Langford, who's surpassed him stats-wise in the last 2 years at that. Another player we almost ruined by playing him out of position for so long. Not again, thanks.
First true key forward a bit harsh on the superstars that were Noah Gown and Michael StillTrying to make the first true key forward that we've drafted since Lloyd a mid is peak Essington if I've ever heard it.

CHF barely even exists anymore other than a nominal selection position. Every premiership system since about Travis Cloke has pretty much ignored 50-90 out from goal and taken wing marks, mostly from small forwards in space and got overlap runners for deep inside 50's. Caddy seems to do his best work facing the goals.Caddy is pretty much a true CHF; hard running, gets high up and the ground and works back, strong contested mark.

To pigeon hole him as only a key forward is silly. He takes like 1/8th of his marks on the lead and had a 36% goal accuracy.
He always played the mid/forward role as a junior. Key forward is a much lower influence role these days than historically. Of the last 4 flags only Geelong had pure key forwards of note.
This would be like John Longmire playing Heeney as a forward for way too long while his true potential was obviously way higher as a hybrid.
A rolled gold forward and you want him playing mid?
When Llordo was coming through and playing well, did you want him playing in the mid?

Agree. Caddy has beautiful footskills.Caddy is pretty much a true CHF; hard running, gets high up and the ground and works back, strong contested mark.
Should’ve had 4 goals. Was clearly taken high in the goal square in the 3rd quarter but play in was called.
I was thinking he could be like Cameron in the future as far as being a forward that can get up and back all day long.Think Curnow is a good comparison. Not tall but have great reach and athleticism.
Think CHF, FF labels are all a bit meaningless today. I would say, like Curnow, his strength is his wheels - you want him working over opponents up field and then back into dangerous spots inside 50.
You don’t want him winning all his footy outside 50.
