Re: #30: Paddy Ryder - Better than Kreuzer?

Paddy is and always has been better than Kruezer. Kruezers knee injury didnt help that though. He is a good player and will get better but they way his potential gets talked up by commentators over the top imo. Bruce is the biggest offender but he loves all of carltons no 1's.

And yet he doesn't have quite the same level of adulation for Walker, who is a #2.

Re: #30: Paddy Ryder - Better than Kreuzer?

Don't be fooled by how many marks he 'fumbles', but land straight on Davey, Jetta or Stants' tit. Great at bringing it down for the smalls.

Kreuzer's a solid footballer, he'll slowly build into something very good. Never understood the comparison.

I think your first point is in reference to the fact that Ryder actually "taps" ala a ruck contest, balls in marking contests down to forwards. If that is what you are implying, I agree totally with this. There have been a number of occassions where I feel he hasn't actually tried to mark the ball (maybe due to being out of position, or having close checking) but he has actually palmed it down the throat of one of our small forwards. He did this in the goal square on the weekend against the Giants, I just can't remember who the little guy was that swooped on it and had a shot on goal.

He is something special. When he was first picked up by the club and I watched his highlights and watched his early games, straight away I made a call to my mates that I think he can win a brownlow one day. Probably a stupid comment in light of the very low number of big fellas that win the award, however, I think that sums up how highly I rate him.

haha certianly looks like he lives up to his name, on the goon before the function ben haha?

Sorry that was tongue in cheek ben didnt mean anything offensive.

BtG has a truly remarkable skill for blinking at the exact right moment when taking a photo.

Re: #30: Paddy Ryder - Better than Kreuzer?

Not Paddy's seventh year in the ruck, Yaco.

Don't think it makes a difference that Paddy played the early part of his career in the ruck - He was always a ruck at junior level.

And how much has paddy improved fron his fifth year to his seventh year ?

Re: #30: Paddy Ryder - Better than Kreuzer?

I think Paddy is awesome and will feel much better with his sig on the line but don't discount Kreuzer.. has been over worked for a young big man because of Carltanks desperation and his best is yet to come.

I think if both stay injury free then they will BOTH be stars of the competition.. but I'm glad we have paddy especially if he keeps up this form with jetta and davey.. the three amigo's!

Re: #30: Paddy Ryder - Signs for 4 years

Essendon Football Club is pleased to announce Patrick Ryder has committed to the club for a further four years, signing a contract extension that will see the high flying Bomber remain at the club until at least the end of the 2016 season.
Ryder, 24, has ended speculation he might be considering a return home to Western Australia and declared his loyalty to the Bombers.

“I love this place and everyone that’s involved in this footy club, I’ve also got great mates here and coaches that I really look up to,” Ryder said.

“I’m a big family man and it has always been on my mind about going home and being closer to my family but I’ve made the right decision for my family in Melbourne, my partner and also because I know the Essendon Football Club is the place for me to get the best out of myself.”

And there it is!!!
