Brown back, his kicking is so creative. He will slowly start intercepting the longer he plays with Vlastuin and Broad. Just scratched the surface in essentially his first season.
Brown has that look of someone above the level. Just bits and pieces. But for a player new to the AFL he looks like his ceiling is pretty high.

Banks has shown a bit too. If those 2 make it we have a much better kicking team straight away. Plus tall.

Banks was always a slow burn because of his size, skinny and not particularly fast for that build. He is getting to the size he needs to be now because he can now win some contested ball and run in straighter lines, rather than wanting the ball given out to him. He is not fast enough to play the outside game. But he is class and should get better which gives him a good shot at taking a wing.

Brown just needs to go up another 10% and become more consistent and he will be a player. Can't not see that happening.

Campbell is the other one that has real upside as well and just needs to get a bit more contested ball in his game. I think he's a potential gun, but maybe not for a year or so.

Interesting to have young developing players with real upside before any of the real talent from the draft comes in. Add Gibcus to that group as well.

Throw Clarke in that basket as well

Such a nice kicking style
Such a shame he copped that ACL last season

I reckon Green is one to watch as well. Right place at the right time, tough and very good user of the ball. Strong build, didn't show much at VFL level, but he looked good at AFL.

Absolutely
A few gems that have gone under the radar but have all shown some signs they can really be important moving forward

Just need some continuity and a little bit of luck

Definitely. Was just talking about similar style of players.

Clarke is exciting. He looks like he can become a hybrid small forward, lead up forward/mid (like Lambo).

Gibcus looks like he could be anything (injured or A grade really)

Sonsie, anything between very good VFL player and ... not at all sure at the AFL level. Too much talent not to make it. Too little character, or something, displayed so far to make it. I'm worried we'll have an A grade talent that just can't put it together.

Great draft by us for talent. Hoping on (no) injuries and development to make it a great draft for actual AFL players.

Id be putting Balta, Brown, Valustin, Broad, Short, Young down back as much as possible. & swining Gibcus back/forward off the bench as he gets match fit.

After those names, our backline talent falls off a cliff. I really think the club should have got a couple of mature age delisted or free-agent players like Markov down back & Martin down forward. This side desperately needed grown up support.

Is why I’m not against us having a dip at Trainor if he slides to our last few picks. We don’t actually have any developing kpb and miller/young aren’t above being upgrade on.

forgot Blight as well - still pretty unknown but has shown something

And Miller i think will be a negative contract. He really sucked last year and i have never found him to be more than a VFL level player.

Miller was good early in the year, especially defensively, but tailed off. Jury is out for sure, but he did take the best forward every week, so that's a tough gig, especially without much help in the key back category.

Would be interesting to see how he went freed up a bit such as in Broad's roll. He is quick and good enough in general play, but his kicking is miles better.

Miller was very good for much of 2024, then fell off.
2023 Young was a great defender.
blight looked solid

Lot to like about the potential KPD stocks. Elite - Balta and Gibcus. The rest have definitely shown good B grade capability.

Younger KPF's. .... hmmm

Given we might take 7 draft pics, 3 mids, 1 key back, 1 key forward, 1 ruck and 1 who slides. We are in need on every line for quality potential A graders.

I dont think Young has shown anything close to B Grage capabilities

Reckon we will get 1-2 medium term competitive KPF's from Fawcett, Lefau, Gray, Bauer. Hopefully we draft a decent one, and it leaves room for one marquee Free Agent in the future. All 4 of the guys mentioned above lost substantial periods to injury 2024 so along with Lynch missing almost all the last 2 seasons, it makes the issue seem much worse than it actually is.

1 x future marquee KPF FA
1 x rd 1 2024 draft selection
1 x best of Fawcett, Lefau, Gray, Bauer.

In reserve next best 1-2 of the above players + Koschitzke.

That should sort out that area of the ground for us post Lynch.

Our problem in 2024 wasn't so much our best tall forward missed basically the whole season. It is that they all missed more than half the season bar Koschitzke.

As much as I agree, I think that's a glass half full view. Fawcett has huge potential - but has had no chance to show anything. gray maybe, Lefau is a decent lead up prospect, and Bauer as lead up/third tall. It's a good starting point for the 2nd string guys around a top end KPF.

If one becomes B+ that'd be a huge win.

Young was the 2nd best at defensive 1 on 1's in 2023, in the AFL.

Nothing really offensive. But he is a great stopper on what he has shown. So as part of a defensive unit Young can be a solid piece.

B grade KPD roleplayer is what I meant.

I think we have a more than decent chance at least one of Fawcett, Gray, Lefau, Bauer proves they are able to hold their own consistently as a 2nd or 3rd tall forward.

Trainor?

At 194 he's barely genuine KPD height. he might grow.

Into a backline with Balta, Gibcus as First rung KPDs and Young, Miller, Blight : depth
with Broad, Brown, Vlas Tresize medium talls.
Short, Kaleb Smith
as smalls.

we need a D Rioli replacement. Hugo IMO

Grandson of Doug Wade? What's he doing in the backline anyhow? Sounds like Dimma's his coach

Draft him Chuck him forward watch him kick a ton.

Jeez a Blight & a Wade in the team is NMFC 1970s style. Their golden era.
