Worried Brown, Banks, Clarke and Sonsie all have skills but all lack intensity/hardness. Hope I am wrong.
Brown and Banks have shown an ability to go OK, in their roles. They are not genuine mids, so have more leeway.

Clarke plays fast running footy and seems like he can keep going. So also some leeway.

Sonsie, I am really worried about him. I want him to play mid next season and we will see.

lack hardness? is it even necessary?

Effectively Brown's debut season wasn't bad. Grew into his body, 18 games. Slotted into Grimes spot.

Banks an Yze fave. 186 winger.. running OK. Slot into Pickett's spot.
73 kg Clarke debuted OK in 22. Then injured 24. He might thrive w/out Graham, Baker, Bolton, Martin.
Sonze is better as mid but below average as a half forward where he played a lot. He might also thrive w/out Graham, Baker, Bolton, Martin.

I think Banks is a player that it will all just click with kinda like Ralphsmith when he got his crack last season

He was the first to really get a string of games out of that 21 crop even under Hardwick and like you alluded seems to be one Yze has earmarked as a future player for the club

Wheeled out in front of the cameras yesterday first day of pre season says something

If I was buying stock in any players today based on what we know Banks seems like the short favourite for a big season this year right now

big call. it was just 1 ~ 4 year players training.

Gibcus played the whole of 2022, rested for a game or 2. Clarke ~ 3 games from Round 13 then rested. Sonsie debuted next & stayed in for the final.

Banks & Brown debuted under Mini late 23. I know Brown had a long injury 23. Banks had a few injuries too.

Banks & Brown are at the 20 game mark. Roughly where Hugo was start of last season

I hope Banks & Ross are picked ahead of Kmac.

Trainor?

At 194 he's barely genuine KPD height. he might grow.

Into a backline with Balta, Gibcus as First rung KPDs and Young, Miller, Blight : depth
with Broad, Brown, Vlas Tresize medium talls.
Short, Kaleb Smith
as smalls.

we need a D Rioli replacement. Hugo IMO

Grandson of Doug Wade? What's he doing in the backline anyhow? Sounds like Dimma's his coach

Draft him Chuck him forward watch him kick a ton.

Jeez a Blight & a Wade in the team is NMFC 1970s style. Their golden era.
Do you see Miller and Young as part of the next Premiership? If not forget about them, placeholder players. Need to be drafting for the next tilt not holding off because our current stocks are okay.
We're gonna be turning this list over the next few years as we add significant talent, some of the old faithfuls are gonna fall out.

Nah they will both be over 55 years old by then

maybe if they have boys that are father sons

With Grimes gone the backline has been contracted.
I don't think a tall defender is a list need. Balta & Gibcus hopefully. The club got them signed up lo-------ng term . Yze had Young KPD Round zero. I think Young and Miller are depth. Just got Blight midseason ~ 3 games from him.

Good solid Virtual debut season from 193 Brown. Tresize is AFL standard.

192 Broad & 187 Vlas Great interceptor needs replacing end of 2026.

Doug Wade Jnr looks like he can play but don't think he fits RFC. Michael, Tom Green Karmic balance?

We drastically need someone to replace that JDM winner.

I don't know of too many that would have his pace and ability to link up with transitioning.

What I do see, and it was patently obvious with what the Lions did in the GF, is that speed of ball movement is paramount. Those players with the skills to be incisive with their kicking, either cutting through zone defences or going over them is the key in transitioning and keeping possession.

People will obviously bemoan me for saying this, but HBF's and Wingers with those skills should be high on our needs list. Lindsay and Oliver together would be awesome weapons.

I think we’ll see a lot of improvement from the young guys on the list. We had a very strong senior group that was hard to penetrate and I assume would have been quite intimidating for a lot of the younger players. I reckon that will be gone this year and you’ll see a lot more ownership.

We may see a different side to players this year that looked a little timid in previous years.

That may not mean we improve as a whole, as there’s big shoes to fill.

Good thing is 2025 really allows us to have a look at these guys in their actual roles. No excuses now for these boys.

Yeah agree

Probably still a little early for their improvement to make a sizeable difference in terms of results but it’s about the overall growth that they can build on moving forward as group and also setting the standards for these new rookies to look at and try and emulate

Building team competitiveness needs developing players in that 40-60+ game mark - Hugo, Mansell, Dow, Kozi, Miller and Maurice Jnr. That group ain’t going to do it.
10 to 30 games: Brown, Banks, Sonsie, Campbell, Gibcus, Ryan.
Under 10 games: KMac2, Tresize, Clarke, Green, Lefau, Blight, KSmith, Bauer.
Zero games: Fawcett, Colina, OHB, Gray.
We need 12 months development in that 30 game group, 2 years plus for others and draftees. With more games for the current group and some elite talent coming in, Tigers on the rise. But….
