How can a guy have elite key defender abilities but struggle with "Defensive Craft" & "Lockdown Ability"

Didn’t realise this guy has only just started playing defence. I think it’s great he’s played mid and forward. I actually think if he has a big enough tank the he would make a brilliant wingman with his height, skills and ability to read the play and intercept.

Might keep him away from more concussion situations too

His aerial ability and kicking skills would make him a great winger pushing back to help in defense and giving a kick out option also.

Same here Mate, the kid is a gun! Risk is obviously concussions but I’ve read somewhere that it’s been a bit overstated in his situation. If he manages to avoid those issues, we have an absolute star defender. I’m pumped we took the risk, as the pay off could be huge.

I thought there was news of some guy or company specifically designing helmets for afl players that would help with headknocks/collisions unlike regular helmets …. That would be handy for young Luke

I don’t rate Balta elite. He’s been played out of position for a fair bit and now needs to go back settle and become an elite Backman. He’s a good footballer but no star.

I love this guy's enthusiasm, seems like one who will be a sponge for the coaches and drive the standards in a couple of years time.

There's obviously been a few question marks on Armstrong's character from the interviews, but I think it's terrific we have also drafted a mate of his in Trainor to grow with him and drive the standards together. Hopefully Training partners for the next 15 years at tigerland.

Heard him interviewed pre-draft. He was out and running the day after his concussion… but had to sit the mandatory time out. I think it was his second concussion he’d suffered.

I’m certainly no concussion expert, but my understanding is there are tests which show if there is brain injury already suffered which may cause long-term problems, and I can only assume Trainor doesn’t have those at this time.

His emotion and excitement at being drafted was obviously because he was scared clubs could be turned away completely to the point he may not be drafted at all… all because of a very minor concussion.

I’m very happy with this selection and whilst I accept there’s perhaps a small element of risk, I don’t think we need to be panicked he’s on the cusp of his career being cut short due to concussions. If he was suffering headaches
and symptoms from his most recent concussion then I’d be worried … but he was out running the day after his most recent one so I’m not concerned at all TBH.

Could be the steal of the draft and that's saying something because so could Horton & Armstrong and a host of others.

Elite skills and composure and the thought of him, Gibcus and Balta all at their prime and injury free is tantalising!

That one concussion saw him slide from being spoken about as pick 2 to North mid year to our pick 21 Worth the risk and could see him being the off-field Rance (just don't do everything he allegedly did)
