We hate picking genuine midfielders hey
Jack Carroll was still there, I fear we will be reminded by the Blues of this for a long time to come...agree with what was said above, we must think one of this plethora of developing ruckmen is going to replace JR up forward. I guess it is CCJ.
Welcome Samson and good luck.

We've got Ross, Dow, RCD all waiting in the wings. All genuine mids. And a wing in Ralphsmith. We hate picking genuine midfielders hey
This is a real surprise this one. Trying to figure out why you take him at pick 40 rather than as a rookie.
He is about 18 months older than and average 18yo draftee so I guess he would be closer to being able to compete at AFL standard than most 18yo rucks.
But with:
Nankervis and Soldo specialist rucks
Coleman-Jones and Chol ruck/forwards
Ryan and Colina as possible long term developing specialist ruck prospects
it is starting to look like we have a lot of specialist rucks.
Possible reasons:
- Richmond identified a high priority need for a back-up specialist ruck 2021, see Ryan as best available, just didn’t want to risk anyone else taking him in a year where rucks are seen as a bit scarce and valuable.
- Richmond continuing a bit of a tradition of bringing in players of a type together, and looking at matching him with Colina. Perhaps this is seen as the best way to accelerate development to get them competing against each other, but also gives the club a clear choice in future years, as with Castagna/Butler, Collier-Dawkins/Ross, Coleman-Jones/Balta/Miller, Baker/Higgins.
- Needing a ruck and not liking the look of any mature prospects, Richmond figured why not grab the best young prospect who has any real chance of playing effectively 2021.
That’s about the best I can come up with. Our recruiters know their stuff really well and I am sure they have followed sound reasoning here.

Carroll may end up a better player than Ryan, although given the Blues recruiting recently I'm not that stressed.
These guys have plucked bargains like Graham at 53 let alone our rookies. Keep the faith.
Ralpsmith is a forward, Dow and RCD could be backs and Ross still has to make it
if you're looking for footage, he dominated this QAFL Senior game this year. He is also a rabid Tigers supporter

Reasonable standard of footy, about 6 ex AFL listed players still in their 20s out there, plus some SANFL Premiership players.
He was best on by a country mile.
So we have Mate and Ryan as developing rucks?
Again would have rathered Henry Walsh but I'm only a pleb and we have won three flags in four years.

Rcd is an inside mid
Ralphsmith is a Wing/Fwd. As he matures, it's wing.Ralpsmith is a forward, Dow and RCD could be backs and Ross still has to make it

RCD is not a back, end of.
Ross will make it.
You can't pick midfielders every year.
Narks gotta nark though.
