Player Watch #33: Kamdyn McIntosh Re-Signed until 2025

I got that from the belief that everyone seems to have around Kmac setting standards...
That the kids will learn of him around standards etc...

1 - If you don't think all our senior players have high training standards, that would be a big worry
2 - If these new kids aren't driven enough to train their guts out already, we drafted the wrong kids
3 - If a bloke who had to wait until after the draft to see if he retained a spot is setting standards, we might as well pack up

Now if people just admitted, I think he's a ripper bloke, just happy for him to be around the club, I wouldn't argue with them, I might disagree, but that's just personal opinion. But people trying to say that Kmac is bringing anything to the club but pure depth player with a lot of experience, then they are on the wrong track.
Maybe you have mis interrupted what these people meant with these comments

Kmac sets the standard both on the training track and work ethic
There is alot the kids can learn from him in these area's of being a pro footballer and the dedication required to make it at the level. He has never been the most talented but always been the player to sacrifice his game for the benefit of team structure and balance.
Currently has Ross & HRS before him for his wing role and hopefully other kids move past him also but if there are injuries then he fills a need and maintains standards and if not then he plays VFL and guides the kids to become better AFL players.

It will be his last season and he knows this and is a team man that will always put the team first

His slecetion has been a farc for the last two years...

It has done the exact opposite of teaching kids to earn games.
The y would have beeter form in the VFL than he does in the AFL, yet Kmac is an auto selection (up until the back half of this season) on the back of terrible performnces.

Every game he plays from here is a game of experince and learning a kid doesn't get.

Really bad decision IMO

Same can be said of other senior players

Let me refresh your memory...
The whole side was sheet this year...
The tsunami of physical injuries just put huge pressure on what players were left to carry the side...
Guess what, none...absolutely none...could do it on a regular basis or with quality performance...
Even the GOAT looked like a mongrel dog at times...
We were collectively sheet...
So you would cull Kmac...
A seasoned hard physical unit who drives high training standards from our side...while we are still sheet...
At the bottom of the AFL Ladder sheet...
And from whom would the youngsters learn?!
Kmac right now is a valuable addition to the RFC until his high standards suffer and/or he gets squeezed out...
The whole side is in transition...not competiting for a GF...on that basis alone one would cut Kmac some slack.

Take a bow, well said as you understand the big picture and whole clubs are run

Get him to play the lambert role as the high half forward who rotates into midfield
This sort thinking is exactly why he should have been delisted.Remove the temptation. He is not a better option than the options we have.He certainly is not a part of the future.

Given the state of where we are at are you really saying play him as a forward in front of Campbell, Clarke Rioli, Green Hotton even Algar.
What on earth is there to be gained by playing him in front of any of those players.
Would you prefer to see him in front of say Bauer same height ones a fwd the other is way past any role.

You would not want him to get a game in front of Ross Hugo and Banks so why would you want to fcuk the young forwards around as well.

Na he is past it stop trying to find a role at the expense of others just because he was a favorite.
This is exactly what happens when you keep players like McIntosh on the list they take games away from kids no matter how shizen they are because people cannot get their heads past the past.

List clogger and with that scenario of high forward killer of development.

Surely they are lining up for that role. Campbell, Mansell, Green, Sonsie should all be given this role over Mac, Ross has played some very good football at half forward, resting mids.

Kmac doesn't have the turning circle to play as a lead up forward. Good as a straight line runner. He is backup purely, which may mean he gets a crack early, but best 22 and especially best 22 going forward, he is not in it. But happy to see him stay on as a senior player in that capacity. You know with Mac even if he is playing VFL he will give 100%.

Something to be said about him even playing sub. I hate seeing kids as sub, and having Mac come in sometime after half time you know what you will get. He can play almost any position but key forward and back.

He's the greatest winger eva. Want him to reinvent himself? F no. Please Richmond just 10 more seasons of elite space occupation. Never goes out of style.

Give us something to go to the footy for.

He's on the list for off field leadership, training habits, experience. Also the fact you can't get rid of everyone from the worst list in the comp in one go.

Blight singled him out the other day as someone who he looks up to and follows in regarding to his training.

Performance on field we're better off not talking about it. He should be a VFL mentor and only play in the seniors when there's injuries.

Agree! if you want him around to set standards then contract him as a VFL player, same as we did for Steve Moris. You don't have to keeping him in our afl list to set standards. Would have preferred we had used his spot to get Davidson.

The whole VFL team salary cap is about $120k from memory, to be spread across about 25-30 VFL contracted players. How much of that are you proposing to pay McIntosh to set standards for the AFL list? Even $20-25k would be enough to place great strain on the VFL cap. And no way would it be worth McIntosh's while to play footy with a fully professional prepartion for that much.

It is not a viable option.

If he is off our afl list then other options to add to his salary become available, like helping him set up a business or hiring him as a supervisor.

Article on the RFC website that many of you have probably read, but it is about 'milestones for 2025', and before it got to current players, there was a big list of Tiger legends going back to the 1930s with ' 60 years since ... Or 30 years since..etc

Can't say I wasn't surprised when I read...

"10 years since dual premiership Tiger Kamdyn McIntosh made his debut with the Club in the 2015 season-opener against Carlton."

Macca has been a crucial cog in our success...but....
