How does he compare with Corey Warner? Who has the brighter future based on the evidence available so far? Or just pointless to say based on so little evidence?
Corey is quicker, and seems to be more visible with his impact. But I can see Mitchell playing a role with discipline. Caleb seems to have footy (I offer that opinion tentatively) and seems to be better at getting the pill. Caleb also worked hard and seemed still to have a good tank.
There's not a lot between them but Corey has had (a few) more opportunities but not yet really made an impact so I'm leaning slightly towards Mitchell.
Too early to tell but it's promising that the coaches think it's worthwhile exposing both to senior footy. Caleb's game will have given him plenty to work on.How does he compare with Corey Warner? The problem I see with Mitchell is that he's slow. How does he compare with Corey Warner? Who has the brighter future based on the evidence available so far? Or just pointless to say based on so little evidence?

My view: Corey has speed & likely a higher ceilingHow does he compare with Corey Warner? Who has the brighter future based on the evidence available so far? Or just pointless to say based on so little evidence?

I reckon he is a smokey for this week as sub. Played well.Haven't heard anything on a potential extension for Sid yet - I wonder where he sits in the scheme of things, ie. whether he's going to have to wait until after the season on a contract extension?
I think he'd be safe, though the jury's still out if he'll end up a player for us or not.Haven't heard anything on a potential extension for Sid yet - I wonder where he sits in the scheme of things, ie. whether he's going to have to wait until after the season on a contract extension?
I expect Mitchell to get a 2 year extension before season's end. Based on nothing except the vibe.
agree; will be an interesting one to watch and see what happens.I think he'd be safe, though the jury's still out if he'll end up a player for us or not.
It's pretty rare for the Swans not to re-sign players taken in the national draft once their initial contract is up. Konstanty & Vickery from the same draft would already be on thin ice in that regard, so it's unlikely there'd be a third in Mitchell. He's also done better at making an impression on selectors, earning his debut and being senior emergency a number of times. And as noted above, Beatson gave him a shoutout, suggesting they see potential there that maybe they don't see in others.
Beatson is still list manager, if he thinks Mitchell is developing we'd be insane not to extend himI expect Mitchell to get a 2 year extension before season's end. Based on nothing except the vibe.
If he can translate some of his time
I've mostly thought the player he reminded me of was Justin McInerney circa the NEAFL in 2019. Had very similar attributes, right down to size and body shape. But not so sure now. I just haven't seen as much of that overlap run from Mitchell as I did from McInerney, so it's hard to decipher what Mitchell's one-wood would be as a player in the senior side.I have some reservations as to whether he might be a bit too one paced but he has definitely done more than enough improvement this year to deserve an extension.
I watched McInerney very closely and I think Mitchell is a fair bit different. Hard to express though. At the moment Warner and Mitchell are depth players you wouldn't be upset about playing seniors if necessary. Campbell is best 25. They are the 3 outside best 22. Inside mids are Sheldrick and Cleary, Roberts also at a pinch.I've mostly thought the player he reminded me of was Justin McInerney circa the NEAFL in 2019.
