come on dude...we have picked a defender, a ruckman, a small forward/midfielder and a midfielder...I suggest it is a very good spread across the ground...i am liking it..
And that defender will be a midfielder. So effectively 3 mids who are all dual position players. And a ruck who can play both ends of the ground too. No one position players is what I like. Though I'll be interested in how McBean develops as a no.1 ruck.

sure i can see the spread, but i was really surprised as all the talk was about mids mids mids and we didnt really clear out our abundance of small forwads already on the list. (+ i hadnt heard of him )
now after a nights sleep and watching the highlights reels and reading the bf experts on the draft threads i may been a little hasty with the negative comment

welcome to tiger land mm have a long enjoyable stay

the thing is we all know the attrition rate of draftees not making the step up to the big time is high, but at least the 4 kids we picked up can play the game to start with...especially Mcbean in terms of a developing ruckman and where his starting platform is...then you factor in how we now have Newman and Tuck on the arse end of their careers and I can see a destinct succession plan to address their retirements when they occur...IMO they only have to get 2 of the 4 right and we are good...if one of those 2 is McBean we are laughing, if its 3 out of 4 we are pulling our puds and so on...
We also now have Ivan as the senior numero uno ruck, Ty who is now in year what? 3 going onto 4? and now Mr Bean taking up the slack in developing ruckman along with the Elton project...all of them are lightyears ahead of potential than Gus and Browne...so its pretty obvious we have upgraded our stocks there...

Great pick up I reckon. Some people said we reached a bit for this but give him 2-3 years and he will be a ready made replacement for King and A.Edwards.

Apparently is a great set shot, has potential to play midfield. Just needs to work on his defensive pressure and endurance I think. Looks ready made though, probably will get a few games in 2013 you would expect.

Im ally excited by this guy, with his elite marking skills and precision kicking he reminds of a young nathan brown...cant wait to see him in y&b, sure to be a crowd fav
if he turns out to be half as good as brown ill be stoked. loved browny.

kid has all the tools to make it, pretty happy with this pick knowing king (age) wont be around much longer.
i'd really like king and foley to mentor him.

Looking at his highlights reel (and I know it's the highlights) I'm super excited by this guy.

Kicks it to advantage / leads the player to the space he kicks to - check
Great decision making in tight - check
Looks ahead to where the next play will be - check
Burrows in to get his own ball - check
Tackles - check
Takes marks at the top of his jump with outstretched arms - check

Stoked. Welcome to the Tigers Matt. :thumbsu:

Dont know if he will crack a game next year with who we have currently. and with more mids pushing forward. But will be handy replacing Kingy or Nahas. If he pushes them out earlier, then great.

I watched this kid in the nashos and was a fan , uses it beautifully, has time when he gets the ball and makes excellent desicions, Kicked 6 in a couple of national games and looked a smart player, Has good hands over his head and i like the comparisons with Chapman, Hopefully he turns out half as good but im super excited by this selection

We recruited Edwards for 1 year with a possibility him sticking around for 2 (if he behaves), once that is done this kid will take his spot. I have always wanted us to target a Paul Chapman type…..I got my wish!!

Just finished talking to a colleague if mine (a Woodville West Torrens member) who stated that Matt is most certainly an exceptional player with impeccable foot skills and uncanny goal sense. He also mentioned that it will take him a season or two before he will be ready to match it with the big boys. No problem, from what I am hearing, it can wait!

Was watching Matty McDonough's highlights on the AFL.com site and at the two minute mark of the vision he easily outpoints the W.A defender twice in a row for easy marks and goals. That W.A Defender in both cases was.........Kamdyn McIntosh !!!!!!!!!

Has Matt played any sanfl games if so how did he perform against men ?

Looks like he will be a good 18 months away from getting his fitness/tank ready for afl and needs to get rid of the puppy fat as somebody called it but looks a very very skilled kid. Happy with the selection

12-24 months will become Jake Kings Replacement
So effectively we have all the replacements in place now
Jackson-McIntosh
King-McDonough
Tuck - Vlastuin
Graham - McBean

McGuane - ???
White - ???
Newman -???
