Couldn't wipe the smile of my face when watching this. Thoroughly deserved the debut, and more than held his own

It's a good goal kicking routine.

If they have the range, and a lot of them do, I don't understand why more players don't just do the three step goal kicking routine.

There is noting to think about. Three steps and just kick through the ball. Can't believe that no one has go through it was Casboult yet.

They probably have, it's just that things go through Casboult's head without absorbing.

He's like a waterproof sponge.

Happy about the puff piece that is up on the website, as there should be recognition for the quality of his performances, though I would not say that it was a case of Hartley "holding" Hawkins goal-less.

He's still a bit non-committal in his approach and I think he should just attack the ball a bit more than he does. Sometimes he has good position in a pack or one on one and he does not impact the contest.

I imagine that it takes a long time playing as a key defender before you get the confidence to do more than just shadow your opponent. He is another player whose increased game time this year will be a huge benefit for the club in years to come.

Expect Hartley to attack the ball better in year 2. Doubt Hawkins took a contested mark today.

Interesting no one else took this guy, considering his age, ability and performance last year.

Also interesting we took Brown (and Eades) before him.

Looks like he could become
a 7-10 year player.

Aaaaand interesting Brown has been given another contract ahead of Hartley, when most of us would prefer Hartley on form, age and makeup of our list.

But they both now have the same contract, Brown got the customary 1 year deal for a draftee over 24 and Hartley got the standard 2, meaning they both now have deals taking them through to the end of 2017

Was really good today, one of the few shining lights.

plays the ball. It's what makes Ben Reid so good and Jack Frost so bad, he did a stellar job all things told

One thing I didn't like was that he went short in every kick out he took. I remember one that he went short (think it was the one Marty took on a bunch of players and turned it over for a goal) where he had Grimley on his own 60 metres away, which he can easily carry quickly, and the opportunity to go coast-to-cost.

No one was presenting targets throughout the game, it's not surprising he went short.

Grimley was literally the only bloke within 20 metres straight up the guts. He has the leg to get there, why not take that?

Who knows/cares? The issue is that we are consistently unable or unwilling to provide targets down field.

You can see the difference with the Pies, they're confident to play on or kick long because they know they'll have someone in the area. I doubt we'll fix it this season though, it's the sort of thing that takes years of playing together to create.
