Does he end up closer to Toby Greene or Sam Lowson?

Can’t argue with his ability to kick goals at lower levels. Does it translate to afl?

Looked a liability against the hawks and bombers last year on a fast deck. Probably more due to being well below the level fitness wise.

Interesting watch.

Toby Greene? You never know but that is a massive stretch.

Good confidence game, and the kind of improvement we would hope for him.

I think taking dad out of the team structure probably helps a lot on the mental side here - its all up to and due to him for the career he will end up having.

You have to be very very good at footballing these days to overcome physical shortcomings. Toby Greene is about the only elite player who relies on pure football skill and brains. Fritsch from Melbourne is very good without being brilliant at anything except goal sense. Matching either of those two is a pretty huge ask for Cooper.

All we can really say at the moment is that he knows where the goals are and is a reasonable mark for his size. That's good. But it's absolutely no guarantee to translate into anything much against half decent defences.

I would add toughness aswell to his strengths.
He doesn’t need to be a star.

I’m confident with hard work and another pre season or two, he will make it as a good solid player as a minimum.

I agree. But he’s the same height, build, speed and position as Greene. As
Is Sam lowson. I think cooper is a gun vfl player. But you never know.

Jamie Elliott is his ceiling imo.

Lower possession player that is capable of winning games off his own boot. They play similar too with their strong marking. Elliott isn’t the quickest player out there, and isn’t a crumber that relies on his speed.

For Cooper to make it he’ll have to make the most of limited chances, much the way Elliott does.

What are his physical shortcomings?

well done, good post. Objective commentary about a player, but wishing him well and making a point without descending to insults.

should be more of it

Elliot would absolutely street Cooper on the burst though. If Cooper ends up anywhere near as good as Elliot we will have a serious player. Hope he does.

Agree. First 2 yards of pace is in the brain. For small forwards working deep in congestion, pace is arguably less important than midfield, wing, half forward, half back

I sincerely hope that Cooper makes it as an AFL player as I do with everyone of the boys and girls on our lists each year.

But right now we are in the midst of the old Intraclub games, where we get carried away and think so many of our players are looking a "million dollars", when all they are doing is playing against one another.

The proof is in the pudding, which is when the real stuff starts on March the 16th this year. Best not to get too excited right now.
