He's obviously still super raw and is basically starting fresh this year. But I think if there was ever an AFL environment where he could get some top level exposure into the AFL it's with this richmond team.

There will be opportunities for key forwards next year, and from what I can see, he has massive hands and a decent propensity to add muscle to his frame. We know he's athletic and raw but if he performs at vfl level, he's every chance to get games in the ones.

Until last night he was the youngest player on our list.
Once you're on a list it doesn't matter what pick you were taken with, so I'm sure he'll still get a good crack at it
Both Fawcett & Faull were drafted based on their follow-up efforts instead of just being a lead & mark forward

point of differences between fawcett and the 2 KPFs we just drafted is obviously the 2 we just drafted were more highly rated juniors, but the fawce is faster over 20m and i believe twomey said he had good endurance in his u18 year (can't find the actual numbers but going off of twomey's word, both armstrong and faull were 6:50 for their 2km so i'm assuming his was better), but obviously he's been cooked with injuries and had glandular fever since joining us so who knows, but it also looks like he knows how to pack on the kegs

hope fawcett comes on, would love if all 3 made it but chances are that (hopefully!) 1 or 2 will most likely make it

edit: actually scratch the him being faster stuff, both armstrong and faull are like 3.1s, and fawcett wasn't below 3s iirc which means they're similarly fast which is good, so this comment is essentially useless 👍 (unlike my many other comments) outside of possibly the endurance part

Hopefully it will create a strong environment of competition and camaraderie. Push the young lad to really get the most out of himself.

Very reminiscent of our small forward issues around 2013. Our cupboard was bare. After some heavy drafting we suddenly had 2 & 3 players competing for each position around 2017-2018. And we ended up with a great stock of them, D Rioli, Butler, Castagna, Bolton, Baker, played in the flags, but Higgins, Stengle, Butler had to be released.

Hopefully we get a similar effect from all these KPP's competing for limited spots. Some make it & become good players in successful teams, some get traded out to the likes of Taz for half useful draft picks.

What do people think of trialling this guy as a tall defender? I think it’s his best shot to make it at afl level …. Especially if balta is playing forward while Armstrong and Faull develop in the vfl

By all accounts his best attribute is his willingness to work and get up the ground and out working his opponent.

Think that’s best utilized as a forward and whilst adding Sims, Faull and Armstrong via the draft makes the forward line real competitive, I think we should at least allow Fawcett to operate in a position that best maximizes his strengths initially.

What does last night's draft mean for Fawcett? Will he still get a good crack at it? I hope he still gets a chance.
It means he needs to do something with his chances this year whilst the draftees are developing and working toward an oppo as they will come hard for chances in 12m time , perhaps earlier if VFL form warrants it

Fawcett....season lost to illness & injury. tragic for the kid. Take MSD KPF Gray; we spoon and invest in this draft with 50 million gun KPFs in the draft & Lynch Lefau back from injury at some stage.

going to take miracle for the kid to get a game here. ....VFL all year back to SA.

He could be the best of the lot. Played about 1 game lol
Yep, far too early to be writing off anyone in their natural position. All of the new KP recruits could all fail for all we know at this stage
