Why the bitterness?

He said he wanted to leave, he and the hawks got a trade done (in the opening minutes of trade week too)

He isnt on a packet like the media reports, he is on the same wage as the likes of Birchall and Rioli.

There really is no reason to hate him.


I think it is more most of your hate for Hawthorn rather then hating gibbo.

You don't get it, do you? Everyone speaks for the club and sadly the minority misrepresent the majority. A small minority have given ALL north supporters a bad rep in BF, crap like this is a perfect example.

If the decent majority do not speak out and drown out the minority then the perception will be that we are all cretins, by not saying anything we are incorrectly misrepresented.

If you don't think image and perception is important you should take a stab at why we have the smallest supporter base, lowest membership and lowest attendance.

I wouldn't use such a strong word as "hate" in reference to a few anonymously typed posts on a footy forum. He's just an easy target for those looking for someone to slag off at. HnR's post below probably explains it in some part.

This has nothing to do with this thread, I just find it amusing when people bring up free speech on forums. Free speech is to prevent governments from preventing political debate, it doesn't protect cretins from posting rubbish on a football forum.

I can understand you don't want to deal with people that will cry rivers of tears when you actually moderate, just wanted to make the point that shit like this is an embarrassment to all North supporters and the club in general. We have club officials, players and our CEO visit and read the forum frequently, Gibbo is still friends with many of them.

You know what Tas, there's a lot of venomous, ignorant tripe posted on this forum directed at our players and coaches that I would be embarrassed to have said players and coaches read. But I really don't mind if they happen to read that the fans of this club hate a traitor. In fact, I would happily preach that message directly to any current player or coach. I don't think it would surprise them terribly much. And a good many of the players and coaches are NOT particularly happy with Gibbo and the dishonorable way he went about his departure. So that is not a reason to shut down this thread, no matter how tacky or unnecessary it might be.

yes, i would think so. plays his best running off the big-engined mid-sized forwards. would probably get a game before macmahon.

gets shown up when he plays on the gorillas (ala scott thompson) but i think his style and ability to run and push up the ground would suit our current gameplan well.
