As Pokemons go, they(Ditto) looks a pretty friendly type.

Super friendly

Dittos only purpose is to sit in the pokemon daycare and make Pokélove with other pokemon

I think the club wanted a Tom De Koning type rather than a pure ruck as they may be seeing the game moving to this type of ruck in the future. Another example of this type of player is Luke Jackson.
Was about to post similar and the Luke Jackson / TDK comparison's
But up foward looking at the vision he seems to have more foward craft with his leading and his ability to be almost Lynch like with his marking and 1 grab marks.

Lets hope Blair is correct and the kid has another 2 inch's in him to grow

I think Tom Sims could be anything.

The only thing that might be a detractor is kicking accuracy for goal but I am sure he can work on it.

I am looking forward to see how he progresses in the preseason

It looks like if our players kick it to his advantage he should clunk it
I agree...
Simmo can watch and learn off young Harry how to go about kicking the footy accurately through the goal posts!

Like Barnzy im worried about this pick. Was he the best tall let alone player left on the board is a good question atm.

Comparisons to luke Jackson are a bit off the mark imo. Jackson was and remains a real agile athletic beast
with good skills. Don't really see that with this lad.

Is he a ruckman or is he a forward or at the level not quite either like so many turn out be when you hedge your bets.
Ah well time will give the answer to all questions.

At 199cm im hoping he is a bonafide kpf.

Good point
But even if he stays at 199cm (likely he grows further) he’s vertical leap is right up there.
He’s elevating himself 5cm or more than plenty of other ruckman, and add his athleticism around the ground and you’ve got a very handy ruckman.
Having said that I think his best work will be done in the f50.

My spider senses tell me he may get first crack of the tall newbs, hopefully resumes training after Christmas, or I’ll revise my thoughts

This kid will surprise many. He is very agile and can take big grabs. He has a good frame and will fill out nicely
I reckon he is a little like JR except bigger and can play ruck. Probably not as good a kick at the moment but he is just starting, JR probably better with the ground ball

I think he's going to be one of the prototype rucks of the future. Future rucks are not going to be dinosaurs, they are going to be mobile ball winners, who have the flexibility to drop back or go forward. Ruckmen need to be link up players and Sims has proven to be a great mark with a huge vertical leap and speed across the ground.

When we first too him and he was listed as a tall forward, I was confused, but given he was played exclusively in the ruck for the second part of the year and showed a huge amount of promise, he seems perfect for us. We don't need a lumbering ruck who can't jump; we need someone we can develop into a player to feed our midfield, shore up our defense and kick the odd goal. In other words, we need flexibility and athleticism and Sims has that in spades.
