I can still see some changes in the next 12 months

Yea our batting ranks but historically players that have built a good Test record for Australia don't get punted until after they turn 36.

Starc - 33
Hazlewood - 32
Cummins - 30
Lyon - 35

Lyon could play until 40 because his clearly light years ahead of the next best spinner.

A year later then I thought then, I was thinking 24/25 but still we'll be the same but for our openers. Khawaja and Warner will be gone that's it.
From the current England team, I can see the following still there:

Duckett
Crawley
Pope (c)
Brooks
Tongue
Robinson

Bazball will be gone - if not in this series, then after India - and that covers a lot of their batting deficiencies. Think England is actually going to be in for a world of hurt for a while.

Especially if they can get Archer fit. A bowling attack with Archer + Wood is so much better than anything we faced in the first two tests.
This is pipe dream stuff to be honest. Wood will be 36 by the end of the tour and I doubt Archer will ever bowl in Australia.

As for their batting, here would be a good place for a bouncing strategy if they want to be aggressive.

Two-and-a-half years is a long time. I can see big changes on both sides - Khawaja, Warner, Smith, Lyon, Boland and Starc could all be gone for us. Meanwhile, Stokes, Anderson, Broad, Bairstow, Ali, Woakes, Wood and Archer could all be gone for England. I say Wood because of age and injuries, and simply nobody knows how quick Archer will be after such a long layoff (I have doubts that he'll play red-ball cricket again).

I think our bowling stocks will be fine, but I'm not sure how our batting will look. Only Head and Labs seem to carry any sort of certainty as specialist batsmen.

Smith will play until his late 30s imo. Green is a long term project so Labs, Smith, Head and Green middle order seems set for a while yet imo.

I'm not certain Smith will stick around much beyond 35. In fact, it's entirely plausible that he could bow out at the next Ashes. I think he made some comments intimating that he could call time at any moment.

Agreed we used to dream about patto and cummins together but it only happened for few tests, wood won't play many games from here and archer is done in test cricket whatever he has left he will put into 20/20 securing his and his family financial future(which is right move) if englands plan down here is unleash wood and archer then that ashes is already lost.

Heard those comments, but I don’t buy it. The guy lives for cricket. I expect will be play for years

As for tonight, don’t like our chances. That session of bowling garbage straight into Stokes’ hands and letting him and the tail slog 100 too costly
