But most importantly, Australia had the moral win, in the spirit of cricket, and all.Lyons fumble, Paines marvellous review and Cummins wide half tracker when scores are level.
All magnificent moments in test history.

But they have got all the moral and spirit of cricket victories. They also have the wins when they don't have the wins, because they apparently have the team that has just beaten them, right where they want them. The icc love the ecb pole
I definitely agree that if it is anything like when we went out to bat last night then we're favourites. But I wouldn't put too much stock in the idea it will be overcast like last night. I live 90km from Leeds and it's high, white cloud with a bit of sun coming through. I imagine Leeds will be similar.Loving the overcast reports.
We've had one micro session with favourable bowling conditions, and we absolutely cleaned up.
Backing them in tonight. Going to be blockbuster.
We need an in form Marnus and we aint getting it, a single 50 in his last seven Tests and scores of 26, 41, 0,13, 47,30 in last six innings. Starts are ok against the lowly teams but this is England and the Ashes. If we lose this one, perhaps Marnus will find himself warming one of the benches.Marnus
Especially if they can get Archer fit. A bowling attack with Archer + Wood is so much better than anything we faced in the first two tests.
I love posts like this, they make me feel a lot better.Going full optimist mode until proven otherwise.
We can lose the match, they can lose the series. Pressure on them.
The overnight break suits us, they have to start again. Pressure on them.
Set some more attacking fields, they have to Bazball it. Pressure on them.
Use all our bowling options, they have to continually adjust. Pressure on them.
Take our time, play our natural game, make them them think. Pressure on them.
Go Aussies!!!
Yea our batting ranks but historically players that have built a good Test record for Australia don't get punted until after they turn 36.
Starc - 33
Hazlewood - 32
Cummins - 30
Lyon - 35
Lyon could play until 40 because his clearly light years ahead of the next best spinner.
Root and Stokes are the only two that worry me. I think it's a matter of time before all their other bats knick off.
If we can't get Stokes in his first 20 balls then we should waste no time in going to bowling full and wide outside off and setting the field accordingly. Drying him up there is the best way to get his wicket.
Has Neser turned into Malcom Marshall since last saw him bowl?Hopefully we get rid of Warner
Starc/Boland out for Neser/Hazelwood
Smith and Marnus had a mare
Usman shows he struggles against genuine pace
Wouldn't have thoughtHas Neser turned into Malcom Marshall since last saw him bowl?
We prefer to bowl it where he wants it. Short and straightStokes knees are cooked too. Happy to bowl wide outside off getting him to reach, also out of his favoured leg side hitting arc.
If they are going to stack the field one side for Stokes surely they go the offside, legside clearly not working.Stokes knees are cooked too. Happy to bowl wide outside off getting him to reach, also out of his favoured leg side hitting arc.
unless it rains you'd think it wouldEither way I'm hoping this match ends before midnight, need sleep.
If it is overcast is imperative the Aussies pitch it up for two main reasons, any movement in the air and off the seam. The Dukes is a bowlers best friend in overcast conditions, you just have to control it.overcast
My gut tells me the same .. if we win Boland will have had one of his little purple patches ..Scott Boland is key for an Aussie victory.
In a word Marnus is OUT of form at the elite level. Has posted a single 50 in his last seven Tests, that was last match of the India tour. Since then he has scored 26, 41, 0,13, 47,30. Not be surprised if he has dropped down now to about five in the ICC rankings.
Woot footy was awesome, now for the cricket
