don't mind Dusty's lack of 100 % effort every now and again, it's obvious and I reckon he's been told just maximise your effort when you think it is required otherwise let the young blokes do the grinding stuff.

4 points at the moment to us is just like pissing into the wind.

my theory is Dusty has been told not to bust a gut, but when he's in a certain predicament consider his situation and make sure he sets himself and others up for when the ball is turned over.
he was ignored/not seen a couple of times because of inexperienced players didn't know where to look or what to do and blazed away.....

9 times out of 10 a Joe goose is scored it's because someone up the field hasn't chased to full capacity, but rather waited/guessed a s**t kick will happen and made space for the turnover to cause the overlap. if it comes off it's called football nous.... if it doesn't it's called bludging.

l'm more worried about Ryan getting it 40 times and slicing us up from the back half and Junior, Mansell and Campbell about 20 touches and little impact between them.

Again, I'm not talking about 100% effort. There were at least 4 times that I counted yesterday where he didn't give 10% effort.

10% is a bit far-fetched it is just about walking but I get your point he did look like he was labouring and not putting in a couple of times. I think my points are very valid and especially if he's playing a bit sore. Wayne Campbell played a little bit similar to Dusty is at the moment in his last year.

Lord forgive me but I’m not sure dusty warrants another contract ,,,,,,

he doesn't although he was still in our best. Just doesn't have that finishing golden touch anymore and he's slowed way down which has his DE way down. I was with you weeks ago he would be best to retire and we start the rebuild 2 years later now. Refuses to man up and chase so he's now a liability.

He was and still is a fringe player. It's not hard to win a JD medal if you play most of the games. Even Dan Jackson won one with all those jets in the side. That 5 year deal has now turned out to be a waste and bad move as he's nearly wasted 2 years of it.

You say it is not hard to win a Jack Dyer Medal if you play most of the games....most of the games in a 25 game season is 13. Would you care to furnish us with a list of players who during Short's career have played "most of the games" in a season and not won a Jack Dyer Medal, then we can get a proper handle on how easy or difficult it is....or did you mean to type something else and just got it WRONG, again. 2022 Short was the 70th ranked player in the AFL by average performance. Given around 400 players take the field each week, not exactly fringe.

2023 Short was the 69th ranked player by average performance.

2022 & 2023 happen to be the 2 most recent completed seasons.

"Short is a fringe player" as a statement is short of logic.

Fringe elite is not a fringe player TI. Your original statement below inferred Short is a fringe player, ie fringe best 22.
