Will come back for the Pies game and show Kmart how it's done.
I know it might sound crazy but has anyone else had the thought cross their minds that perhaps he was also given some time off to bulk back up. He looks like he has had a few pastas whilst on leave. He definetely looks like he has regained his bulk that he lost due to the kidney injury IMO.....could have been more strategic from the medicos than we think ?!

No. We aren’t going to give the best player in the competition time off to put on weight… whilst we are struggling to win a game.

Well they aren't putting him straight back in are they now that he is back at the club so that goes against the validity of your argument somewhat. I think it might have factored in, they have probably said go away, destress, see family and friends and don't think about football, oh and by the way eat all the KFC you want 🤣

Who is this guy again?
Slugging around in the reserves.
Would struggle to beat Maurice or Sydney for a spot in the team next week I reckon...

Dustin Martin’s Sydney rumour is back after Paul Gallen report

Dustin Martin has been spotted with an Aussie sporting legend — and it has brought back to life a rumour that won’t go away.
Dustin Martin has been spotted working out with Aussie boxing machine Paul Gallen in Sydney.
The Richmond superstar has taken time away from football on mental health grounds following the death of his father Shane in December.
How he has spent that time away from football has now been revealed — and it is enough to put the rumour mill into overdrive.

The triple Norm Smith medallist has spent four weeks in Sydney and The Daily Telegraph now reports he has used that time to get back into the boxing

His training camp with Gallen has included boxing sessions at the former NSW State of Origin captain’s Cronulla gym.

Martin has returned to training with the Tigers and is now expected to make his return to play against Collingwood in Round 8.

His training camp with Gallen has included boxing sessions at the former NSW State of Origin captain’s Cronulla gym.

It is the second camp Martin has held in Sydney recently after he also spent time boxing with code-hopping star Sonny Bill Williams during the off-season.

blockbuster fight between Williams and Gallen is expected to be negotiated this year.

Martin also impressed Williams’ training team with his boxing prowess when his time in Sydney was revealed in November. Reports at the time claimed Martin continued to be attracted to the concept of moving to Sydney.

Now the rumours are back.

The Telegraph report details Sydney has become an even more attractive destination as a result of the lifestyle he has experienced away from the Melbourne fishbowl.

In a statement that is sure to shake the AFL, the report claims the Giants and Swans are both monitoring Martin’s situation behind the scenes.

The report speculates there is potential for Martin to be released from his Richmond contract on compassionate grounds.

It comes after reporter Tom Browne told Channel 7 on Friday night that there was a “faint possibility” that Martin could end up finishing his career with a Sydney club.

“I don’t think he’d lose anything from his Tigers legacy if he spent the last couple of his years up in Sydney,” he said.

“He spent the off-season in Sydney. He spent four of the last six weeks or so there with family. I still think it’s a faint possibility.”

Martin remains contracted until the end of the 2024 season with the Tigers, but the situation has been clouded by previous comments from his agent Ralph Carr.

With the Giants desperate to land a marquee player and the Swans contemplating life beyond superstar forward Lance Franklin, the links with Martin have never gone away.

He was famously courted by the Giants with a reported big-money offer in 2013 — but chose to stay with the Tigers.

Carr said last year Martin had “two years to go at Richmond” — but Tigers CEO Brendan Gale responded by declaring Martin is locked in until the end of 2024.

“Dusty loves Sydney,” Carr said.

“He’s there a lot and he originally lived in Camden with his dad. You’ve got to live there to really know how good it is.

“He loves rugby league, too, and he was hanging out with Cameron Munster the other day.”

Dusty has been doing boxing training in NSW to stay fit and probably as a mindfulness exercise to take his mind off his grievance. Must mean he is a lock to join the Swans. Never mind the fact he's back at the club and about to face the Pies. FMD.

The media did this last year with the speculation Bolton was leaving, what pisses me off about the media is they never mention how Richmond will be compensated? If Martin was traded it'd be a loss but we'd rightfully demand back everything Sydney has to offer, it'd set us up for the next decade, so why dont the media write that article if they really want to speculate.

Reporter: Why is Dusty in Sydney?

Carr: Dusty loves Sydney.

Reporter: Why does he love Sydney?

Carr: He’s there a lot and he originally lived in Camden with his dad. You’ve got to live there to really know how good it is. He loves rugby league, too, and he was hanging out with Cameron Munster the other day.

Carr answers questions truthfully.

Reporters interpretation: Dusty must be going to Sydney!

Wow! Talk about drawing a long bow!

The Carr comments about Sydney are from Feb 2021 lol

LOL - "released from his contract on compassionate grounds" so he can play for the AFL Swans or the AFL Giants. As if we would be that stupid.

At the end of 2022 I still think he'd be worth two first rounders (say 7 and 15), possibly more given his marketing value to a team like the Swans.

No chance he’s worth two firsts at his age and the money his contract is reported to be

Geelong gave up two 2nd round picks and got Ablett and a 4th round pick back

Would probably say Dusty would have similar value

I don't think you've described the Ablett trade accurately. I'm also not sure it's relevant as he was 33 and had barely played for 2 years at the time of the trade.

I doubt Dusty is planning to retire unless he gets traded to Sydney. I reckon he loves playing footy and Ralph Carr would advise him well (do your job, earn the money). So any trade has to make sense for Richmond. Put it another way - we're not trading out a champion player for a second rounder!

It's all BS anyway. I can't see him finishing up with another team unless we need to clear the salary cap room. Given how many stars are retiring in the next few years, I think we're fine.

Yeah that was because the AFL (Steve Hocking) was negotiating on behalf GC - hardly surprising the outcome.

Dusty is definitely worth a top 10 pick and a promising young player.

Not at 31 and 1.5m worth of cap space

It's the Buddy argument though. You're not just getting a footy player. He's going to directly result in a huge spike in Swans/GWS memberships #worthit
I think if he was younger we would of easily got those 2 firsts or a 1st and player but given his age even with the upside clubs won’t sell the farm on what will be a 3 year investment at best case

Probably 1 first rounder and token later pick swaps in of favour

Also he’s guaranteed like 1.2mil a season for next 2 years, and he loves the club.
Tom Browne with the old “maybe, possibly, there could be a chance sheet as usual”
Massive pieces of anus these reporters are

Honestly as dirty as it makes me feel I'd take that if the offer was tabled and Dusty voiced a request to move. The timing is right to get in more high end young talent.
The alternative may be he sees out his contract and leaves/retires and we get goose eggs.
