This is ****ed up honestly. Club stuck by him up and he just bails.

I do think the club could've played him more this season to be a little fair. Riewoldt is basically cooked and Lynch is not far behind when you look at the way he moves and all the surgeries he's had.

Young key forward stocks in big trouble. I hope the club has a plan. And if we don't get an early to mid first round pick for him someone please tell me where I can start my riot.

Early first Barnzy? Highly doubt anyone thinks he’s worth that, unless you meant early second? Don’t think he’s the huge loss that a few are making him out to be though. I think we can draft a couple of young talls and develop them when vfl gets up and running again. It is what it is though, out of our control now in terms of keeping him, and as Balmey just said on SEN, we move onwards and upwards.
im disappointed he’s chosen to leave but not the end of the world for me. Says a bit about his character though after last years misdemeanour

Drafted a pick 20, few years of development, has shown plenty of signs of being an elite contested mark who can play forward and in the ruck.

Why on earth would he be worth a second? At minimum he is worth a mid to late first.

If the offer from North is genuine he'd be crazy not to take it IMHO. Guaranteed money, plenty of time to develop. Then it probably goes one of two ways - he scores a great contract having improved massively and entering his prime or he gets cut/signs a low $$$ contract having not improved at all or very little.

If he knocks back North it still goes one of those ways, but if it's the second way he doesn't set himself up.

Sorry Mate, I edited after posting originall. I don’t think he’s worth the hype a few generate for him on here. I could be proven wrong though in time but not guaranteed. I think Samson Ryan will be a better ruck prospect my self but 🤷‍♂️

What a disaster. He's the one young guy I'd least like to lose.

Any chance we can convince him to stay? Throw me a bone here.

It's never as bad as it seems. Hang in there. We lost Deledio, a far, far better player, Richmond life member and vice captain, and won the premiership within 12 months.

The Hawks lost Franklin and saluted.

The Dogs lost their coach and best player, looked like a bin fire and were holding the cup within 2 years.

I like the look of CJ, agree he could fill a genuine need, but his not Franklin, Deledio or Ryan Griffin. Onwards and upwards, Tigers.

seems cheap compared to what someone thought we are offering Talia

I think I’m more upset at not actually losing him but him walking out on the club after the kebab incident. Is it bad form to wish injury on him? Maybe just the loss of a limb?

The behavioural expectations some supporters have on players I think are amazing.

Players are there to win premierships, develop and earn a living.

Straying from this is make believe.

What worries me is we have a heap of ruck, Chol, CCJ go, Higgins left other small forwards moved on, does the off-field footy department actually know what its doing regarding direction, planning and pathways? The movement looks more like a political party in its short term nature

Is everybody just riding high on the back of Dusty's coattails?

Wasn’t he suspended or the first 6 or something , injured for 4? Played 8 so for an up and coming player that’s not bad

I don’t think we can question the list management of the club. Not yet anyway.

For anyone panicking about losing CCJ…. now I know he’s got promise, but he’s 22yo - Mason Cox played 7 games this year and CJ 8…. Here are there season averages:

Goals: Cox 1.1 v CJ 1.4
I50’s: 1.4 v 0.8
GA’s: 0.3 v 0.1
SI’s: 4.9 v 4.3
Disp: 9.4 v 10.5
Marks: 3.7 v 3.8
CM: 1.4 v 1.4
Metres: 122 v 97

Now I think we all accept Cox is a completely useless spud of a player. And i know CJ has upside and he has only played 8 games. But it wasn’t 8 games as a 19yo kid.

Luke J is 19yo and only 1cm shorter than CJ…. he is the prototype fwd/ruck, not a slow and lumbering CJ. Good move not to tie our future to CJ - I haven’t seen enough to be convinced he’s the long-term answer as a bonafide ruck/fwd… not when you watch other young rucks like Jackson, Darcy, Draper and Marshall who would tear CJ a new one.
