Chol played some handy games in 2019 and 2020 which kept us in top 4 contention. He will never have the consistency to be relied on, and really doesnt seem the type you want in finals.

CJ yes has been a waste, will continue to improve but couldn't be paired with Lynch up forward anyway. looks average at best in the ruck and slow, id rather play Soldo tbh.

Also players who are on lists while the team is winning premierships and they arent playing, can always understand them wanting to leave eventually.

We got Nank and Lynch for virtually nothing, you cant complain losing these 2 for nothing. Im sure we will find players to replace them without giving up much.

Well spoken, Sir.
Extremely well summed up.
Will add this concept of loyalty and owing the club is outdated, or more to the point dead.
It's a business - nothing more, nothing less.
Clubs and players will do what's best for them and are free to do so.

I'm not really concerned to be honest. I guess it's because I didn't rate him after watching him play. He might be ok going forward but it's not like we are losing Brad Ottens II here. I think the fact we picked him up with pick 20 is what we should be more annoyed with.

If he chose GC no one would be too upset, as we know GC could not be sneaky like North who could potentially send him to the PSD ban and thus GC would have to cough up something of value. The fact he chose North who could try and screw us over is what concerns most. We obviously do not want to lose out here on what we believe CJ is worth and that is pick 20.

No that isn't the case. His first game was in Round 11 and he was available to play after Round 4 (or Round 5, one of the two). He was healthy and performed well enough in the VFL, but he simply was not selected. He played from Rounds 11 - 16 and then was injured up until about Round 19 or 20 (not sure which one). He was then available and was not selected for one or two games and then received a call up in Round 21. He then played for the rest of the year.
I'm not really sure how that's any different to what I said
He was suspended for 5 rounds, injured for about 4 weeks, that's 9 out of 22 weeks he was unavailable for reasons outside of our control, pretty close to half a season that I said. That means he played 8 out of 13 possible matches, so he got plenty of opportunity when we were able to select him.

If North won't give up 20 and I'd suspect they won't, I'd ask for their 2nd rounder next year and a swap of third rounders this year. Then we get extra picks in the 2022 draft (and death ride the Kangas all year) and have a better points pick to package up to improve our draft position this year (dogs or pies) or do swaps into next years draft.

It means North can back themselves to rise and keep their face with pick 20 but we also get some value for a player those flogs are going to give a 4 year contract to....

If North decide to screw us over on the trade, we'll just have to make sure we target Tarryn Thomas when he comes out of contract next season to drive up his price.
We'll also have to make sure we support any move to ship them off to Tasmania

You would think that a player would have some loyalty after causing our soft cap to be hit.

I hope we play hard ball on this one and get something pretty decent.

Usually a player delivers some type of football that impacts a result before leaving the club.

He has only had one game of note which was against the Crows.

Should have just not played him all year and just delisted this clown

losing him and Chol together puts us back a lot in our rebuild, we literally have no KP's now & the paths to us bouncing back immediately are getting slimmer by the day. We are well and truely getting into a pretty big rebuild now. Its all about hitting on this draft

All of a sudden ruck depth is a big concern.

Nankervis mounting injury history
Soldo off an ACL
Ryan/Colina - completely unproven

Big, big concerns for 2022.
Or Nank has an injury free year.
Soldo has a big preseason and gets back to 2020 form.
Ryan also gets another preseason for development and starts impacting VFL games well and is pushing for senior games by midseason.

Chol is no loss for me flash in the pan to much while CCJ doesn't want to be here see you later.

If we can get North's second rounder next year I'll be happy and get a 3rd round compo for Chol. Use the later picks for teams that need it like collingwood and bulldogs to move up the order and get 5 picks in the top 30. With such an even spread this draft, bring in 5 young guys will be exciting.

Obviously our salary cap is pretty tight which is a big reason we are losing the two players. So bringing in 5 youngsters will ease the problem for at least 3 years until they need more coin.

The fact Coleman-Jones has chosen to leave after the Tigers were heavily punished and supported him following that incident has left the club privately angry.

The trade value for Coleman-Jones is difficult to quantify as he was pick 20 - the first pick in the second round - four years ago but has only played nine games in that time. North Melbourne presently have the first pick in the second round of this year’s draft.

The Tigers would consider that four years of time put into a player and the contract terms offered to him to move would mean he is worth a pick better than what they originally used on him. North would argue Coleman-Jones has only played nine games in four years.

While it is unlikely to be used, the Kangaroos also have the first pick in the pre-season draft, so theoretically if negotiations failed he could walk there for nothing.

Pretty much what has been said in the last 30+ pages of this thread...another journo sourcing material from here I see!

I remember a incident in the vfl grand final in 2019 we're Pickett took a beautiful courageous mark and CCJ got filthy and upset mouthed off basically saying you got in my way didn't like that look from that day , but thought his young give him time maybe there was issues why Dimma took so long to play him.

They can take CCJ for nothing in the PSD. We did it with Bachar. So instead of just taking whatever they offer us like a third or fourth round pick we dont need we should offer them something they can't get for nothing that will make us closer to a premiership next year and beyond. Pick 7 and CCJ for Jy Simpkin?

Who wouldnt want to have pick one and seven in this super draft, it will give them two midfielders that are hitting their peak at the same time as CCJ hits his lol

They can but I doubt it will come to that. Firstly, one would think that CJ would want the deal to be done in trade week and not in late Nov waiting for when PSD comes around.
These days clubs do try and get deals done, a few don't, notably GC who wanted more than carltons first round pick and blues said no and subsequently got him for zilch in the PSD

On Bachar;
Richmond offered Essendon pick No. 46 for Houli, which the Bombers rejected.
Essendon recruiting manager Adrian Dodoro said the club was willing to give up Houli and a third-round pick for a second round selection.

Pick 20 hopefully comes our way but if we North say no, then we may need to get creative. I trust the club to propose a deal that does tilt our way.

Not happening. We're not getting any second rounders for a guy who is out of contract and wasn't in the best 22 this year, especially not from North where they're more like late first rounders.

This is simply not happening.
Yes, the PSD doesn't get used all that often, but in the context of non-best 22 players who are out of contract and wanting to leave for the bottom-placed club, it absolutely does play a factor. I highly doubt CJ cares that much about how he gets there, the same way Hately didn't care how he got to Adelaide.

Pick 20 is absolutely not happening. North won't be giving up any first or second rounders for a player they can easily get for free.

Pretty sure no one said on this board that we want a first-rounder. Secondly don't be so dismissive that we won't get pick 20. Worst case we might have to get creative, like CJ and pick 28 for pick 20 & 38 (just giving an example). And, no I do not think he will go to the PSD
