the only thing we lost is 4 years of development and what ever we paid him i never saw anything that said he was going to be a good player let alone a gun
He looked good in that game against Adelaide and showed glimpses in the other games he played

he’s still young and learning but he would have been worth persisting with. With him and Chol going we have no KPF depth at all

He’s not a premiership ruckman. He’s not even in our best 22. Imagine the melts if we lost someone we really valued, like Bolton, Balta or Nank. Best of luck to the kid. We can’t be throwing around big $ for a project player. It just shows where North’s list is at.
Exactly. Most KP talent shows something by now. He lumbers like a T. rex at best and Chol is just a tease. Ship them off. For those complaining about 17 and 19 walking out, seriously we can’t get all our picks spot on. Higgins was a little sooky midget with no foot skills. We are literally making shit look good and trading it out for another like pick you have another crack while keeping the picks we get right.

Two top twenty picks are now gone , perhaps not disaster but a very poor result..
Gotta do better in the future otherwise some very lean times coming up...
Bullshit we have nailed draft picks in recent years. You are picking our outlier picks and we effectively are not getting zero for the bad picks, we are getting a return for them to reinvest and pick another kid (ie Higgins). We literally got to buy, try, ship him off, another like pick again. Sounds good to me if the ones we don’t nail get shipped off for another try.

Need to look at it a bit deeper than that.

Jack Higgins played nearly every game in 2018 when we had bugger all injuries and were pretty much at the peak of our powers.
He then had a serious brain condition that held him back in a big way.

CCJ would have played 50 games and been a regular over the past few years if we were a bottom 8 team.

He is only a kid with minimum development.

Jack had a good year but he will hit a cliff very very suddenly. We saw moments this year where we got a glimpse of what that will look like. he is past his "best before " date & his expiry date is just TBA now, we need to be prepared for it
You’re absolutely right mate, I acknowledged that in my post. I was referring to a comment saying Riewoldt should’ve already been replaced and we’d already half onto him for to long.

I think he’s a player that needs things on his terms, he’s competitive and wants the ball but I reckon it’ll be as a FF he’ll have the biggest impact, eventually but it’ll be a long time before he kicks more goals than BBrown at Nth Melb.
Good on him, life’s short and your career is shorter he might only be one acl injury away from it all being over so make as much as you can while you can.
Best of luck CCJ hope your still there when Nth’s window opens.

100% right.

To lose Chol and CCJ in one fell swoop is poor list management by Richmond which ever way you slice it.

Fair enough... I will always remember him as the guy who leaves the quarantine hub, goes to a strip club, heads out at closing with all the other drunks and grabs a street kebab and gets in a fight.

Comments about him being the SA capt and so, making out that he was a professional elite junior talent and perhaps we have mistreated with lack of opportunity.

He may 'mature' but I can see why we only have a 2 year offer in front of him and a pay rate way below what Norf supposedly have on the table.

Hard to put your finger on it but I reckon theres at least one person that lost their job because of that night with the soft cap fine.

100% right.

Nonsense.

We can’t control if cellar dweller clubs are offering ridiculous 4 year deals to our fringe players.

Poor list management would be paying overs to keep fringe players.

I disagree he is very very poor in the ruck avg ruckman rag doll him
1 game he kicked 4 against poor opposition does not make a career.
Not fussed at all he is gone might speed up a real gun in our forward line

Higgins is a C-grade player with a chance of becoming B. There’s a reason he was not a staple first-22 player. CJ is harder to replace as he’s 200cm and a capable ruck-fwd. But we recruited him at a time when Soldo was still very doubtful as to whether he’d amount to anything ….. he ended up becoming a very good tap ruck and Premiership player, so CJ was surplus to our ruck needs. It happens. Nothing to do with poor list management - more to do with Soldo becoming better than the club expected.
