Pretty strong chance he plays this week given there's a decent highlights package of his game this weekend just gone on the club website.
Wouldn’t read much into that
Match committee doesn't select the side until much later in the week as a general rule

Is that correct? It certainly used to be, but I recall an article with one of the coaches a few months ago where they walked through a typical week. I was shocked at how early they decide their ins and outs (around day 2) to allow specific training for the gameplan and opponent. I did a quick search but couldn't find the reference.

I took a look at a few recent "tell the debutant" videos and both Miller and MRJ were posted on the Wednesday before Saturday games. I think if Sonsie was going to debut he'd probably know today at the latest.

Gotta love this kid. Rewatched the game from weekend again so much to love about the way he goes about it. Considering the game was drenched his skills were pretty good, his hands and pickup was clean. They're right he does instinctively find himself in the right spot. His tackles stuck and that goal he roved was phenomenal. Even when their was a free kick for deliberate i think he sprinted past the closer team mate to get the ball so gotta love his competitive hunger to get the ball. Im already so confident in Gibcus, Sonsie, Clarke and my favorite is Banks (I reckon he's gonna be A grade in 2-3 years). Im not sold on Brown yet (probably because haven't really identified anything that stands out about him just yet but hoping he's gonna be a player) but I think we'd all be rapt if 4 out of the 5 turn into 200 gamers B- A+ players anyway.

Not sure the questions re. his ability to run out a game are valid - to pick up 30+ possies, plenty of hard/contested in a wet slog of a match shows a fair bit of stamina IMO

Play him this week please....

Getting him in is exciting but won’t solve any of our problems. We need runners. Stack and sonsie are exciting but won’t run out a whole game, which is what we are lacking.
Well given we are happy to give 70% game time to the likes of Cotchin and Graham, I'm sure we carry him.

If he is selected to play this week it will be a very hard game to make an impact

The Doggies midfield is going to molester us this week
That's what people thought last year, when we went in against them without Dusty, Prestia, Vlastuin, Lambert, and we bashed them up. They were 6-0 and flying at the time. They were without Dunkley that night but did have Lipinski getting 23 and 5 clearances, and Bruce playing foil for Naughton.

I don't think they're going anywhere near as well this year, but they are likely to get four times as many frees as us, so it might be tight. Being at the G helps us as they are like Essington and prefer to play indoors. Tiges by 4 goals.

I love your enthusiasm and yes we did well last year to beat them

Wont happen this year unfortunately - Im thinking a 6 goal win to dogs

The kid is a running machine. You don't rack up 34 possessions on a crap wet day when you are short of a gallop. Well he may actually be short of a gallop given his reduced preseason, but he seems to be one of those natural endurance types, naturally running to the right position also. There was a reason he was touted top 1-5, because like other top 5 picks like Walsh and Smith they run to the right spots and keep doing it. Said it before, but he reminds me of Craig Bradley in that respect. Plus he doesn't need many possessions to hurt because he has a great boot, left and right.

Will be surprised if he doesn't come in. Would bring him in for Castagna or hate to say it Edwards. Ross also due to being played a fair bit at half forward, which he is not.

Big difference in the level of stamina needed at these levels…

This week would be throwing him to the wolves a bit, Bulldogs midfield is far better than ours on paper.

I'd be nervous but pleased for him if he plays, but probably happier if he backs up again with another good game in the VFL and if so next week against Adelaide at AO looks a much friendlier debut game to bring him in and give him a chance to succeed.

Wouldn't be playing as a starting mid, more likely starting on bench, moving to the half forward line with spells in the middle. He gives us something we don't have, a classy running linking mid. Well Graham is such a player, not sure I'd add the class word though. Got to start sometime, may as well be this week because I think he will improve our side.
