Blokes like Sonsie are the ones you want to fast-track into the ones to get them up to speed as quick as possible.

Don't have to throw him to the wolves as a starting mid, but perhaps he could play a bit of time off half forward with stints in the middle.
Lots of players today he could replace

Aarts , Castagna , Edwards , Cotchin just to name a few

Like I stated earlier this kid is even better in the wet as he is in the dry.

He’s going to come into contention to debut this week. I still feel it may be 4-5 weeks earlier then what I hoped but the senior team needs some injection of excitement.

Tyler is made for the big time and loves a big stage aswell.

Bulldogs on Saturday night at the G will be a cracker to debut in.

If we can play him, keeping our expectations realistic (a tough ask I know), then he will only grow from this exposure. My only knock on him is his ability to run out games so perhaps we could use him as a sub? The only problem with that is it means he misses another full game of development at VFL level.

I'd love to see him play but I think they'll go with RCD to finally see if he is going to make it

I wouldn't debut him is a sub, but I wouldn't mind him taking Shedda's spot in the 22, with Shedda being sub and Aarts dropped.

Its basically what we are doing with Gibcus, some kids need to be fast tracked.

Problem is, if he's a sub and doesn't play, then all he's done is miss a development game of VFL.

We're probably better off making someone like Edwards the sub, drop Aarts altogether.

Edwards doesn't need the development time in the VFL, and if needed is experienced enough to come on and make an impact in a variety of roles.

That would allow Sonsie to have a crack as a half forward and occasionally at stoppages. Don't think he's full time centre square ready.

I didn't say play Sonsie as the sub?

I actually agree 100% with you that Sonsie should play Edwards role as a forward/mid and Edwards should be sub.

After 34 touches in a wet game where our VFL side mostly got belted, and our AFL side's midfield clearly struggling to run out games, you sort of can't not give this guy a debut. Be silly and very poor if Dimma doesn't reward that.

Anyhow, I think Sonsie will be like Prestia. Not exactly bullocking, won't bust through and change games by himself, but as an addition to an otherwise decent (or better) midfield he'll be fantastic.

Just like Prestia he is sorta low to the ground, decent pace and good hands, good skills, and knows where to bob up to find the footy. Only difference (at least for now) might simply be his tank, which won't be near Prestia's level you wouldn't think.

So anyway yeah, gotta bring him in now.

It's time -

Tyler Sonsie (34 disposals, 10 clearances, seven tackles, eight rebound-50s, two score-assists, one goal)

"Had huge clearance and contested ball numbers. It was also pleasing to see him really improve his defensive intent with seven tackles, and he had a classy finish in front of goal."

He is rushed in traffick and by far his best game has been on a heavy 8 track .
Afraid he will struggle with increased tempo and speed atm at AFL level .
Tend to agree still a few weeks away but looks ****ing good all the same

Best way to get used to the tempo of AFL footy is by playing seniors. He's at least gotta be in the squad this week.

Get him into the side regardless of Prestia back, a few need to be sent a message as these 4q fade outs are a major problem
