Watched the “show me the money” doco on Stan. Colin Young had Sonsie at pick 15. Was well ahead of Tom Brown…. Was tough to watch Sonsie get very overwhelmed on draft night when McDonald went to Hawks.
But the look on the kids face when tigers picked him was priceless. He was definitely absolutely wrapped to be a tiger.

just a note. Carry on 👍🏻

Haven't seen the 3rd ep yet but the first 2 were great. They should make one every year.

I'm so excited to see this kid when he builds a tank, learns the game plan and learns to focus on the defensive side of his game. I remember they did the same with Bolton before he became a regular in the team. Told him they loved his talent and could see how much offensive talent he had but until he learned how to play the team structure and learn to relish defense as much as attack, he wouldn't get a game. Now Bolton is now one of our best players (if not our best).

If we can do the same with Sonsie, I see no reason why he can't turn into a star for our team too. He certainly has the talent.

That’s true re the defensive stuff and Morris highlighted Sonsies defensive efforts in his post match report so it could be a real focus for him.
Love the fact that he was our top possession winner to go with it. It’ll be great to have a mid that finds the pill as easily as he does, back him in for 20+ every week

So was Sonsie wearing #29? And Jorgensen was in #40? What's up with that? Haven't made a jumper for him yet so he's wearing one of Bolton's spares?
Jumper numbers are a bit off in the VFL this year. Tom Brown wears number 13 too. Not sure why.

Preferred the consistency where VFL listed blokes wore numbers over 50.

At least only numbers that are not taken by the listed players. So 13,14, 24 etc could be allocated. I guess a decision was made to give priority to the VFL players.
But Sonsie was in his 40 today and Jorgensen 69. So WTF is going on there.

Thought Sonsie was in 29 again

Looked all class today. His goal was fantastic. I love his hard nosed edge and attack on the ball. Seems the complete package but just need to continue to build his tank. He faded in the second half.

I have high hopes for this kid though. I think he is going to be exactly what we need in the midfield moving forward

Our long-term midfield may not be as dire as it was looking … Sonsie is already showing why early in 2020 (year prior to draft year) he was touted as a potential number 1. And Dow is very impressive. Has played just 9 games of footy, and had 23 today and led our CP (12) and clearances (7) and went at 83% DE.

That is 2 x shining lights we didn’t really have on the radar as potential high midfield quality just a few months ago…. I know Sonsie hasn’t played a senior game but sometimes it’s just obvious when someone has the goods to become a quality player.

Dow and Sonsie at 20yo and 19yo were massive positives on a bleak day.

Footnote: the other positive was when Gibcus missed an easy handball late in the game near the boundary when game was already lost …. he was livid with himself. Great signs of being a fierce competitor.

Blokes like Sonsie are the ones you want to fast-track into the ones to get them up to speed as quick as possible.

Don't have to throw him to the wolves as a starting mid, but perhaps he could play a bit of time off half forward with stints in the middle.
