Why does everybody have to be a superstar?

It's such a stupid comment, we don't need a team of superstars, we need a group of solid, reliable players who will compete week in week out, can handle the pressure when applied and who work well as a unit. The actual superstars like Sheezel, LDU, Wardlaw and Larkey will add the gravy.

As for Dawson, I thought he was pretty good in the games he played last season and has look very solid in the few VFL games I've watched this season, it would be remiss of Clarko/Ratten not to give him a run at some stage this season.

I'd take it further and question anyone who says "it's just the midseason draft".

Or "it's just a rookie spot".

Or "it's just Category B, who cares?"

These are all legitimate means to find talent that clubs have used successfully. Every opportunity is gold and should be explored - you only have to get 1 shot right to justify the recruitment legwork.

Little did we know when we drafted Kallan that this thread would ultimately turn into this…

He doesn't need to be a superstar, the media and many others use the term star so loosely.

The suggestion that someone is going to turn him into superstar is dumb.

His VFL form has looked very good recently, he certainly deserves to be in the mix to come into the side after the bye.

How would that make him a superstar?
Okay, if Ash Johnson kicks three in the first haf of the GF this year (lot of ifs there really) ... but if that happens how does it make him a supertstar?

Well provided the Pies win ... then watch and see.

He'd become a legend for the Pies but I personally don't consider every player who has a moment of greatness a superstar.

Similar to that of Freeborn with North in 96.

Anyways I feel like I've derailed the thread, so hopefully Dawson is continuing his good form and getting a crack in the side soon after the bye.

A superstar is entirely a media creation.

Last 2 games he's looked more like his last season form but apart from that start of the season hasn't done much so understandwhy he hasn't been given a gig. Hoping he continues his last fortnight form and gets a go before seasons end. Could defs do better than core
