I’ve thought this as well, makes sense to play a bunch of the kids together, let them physically develop, as well as building confidence especially when the main team is getting belted each week.
Look at how the box Hill hawks are going in the vfl.

yep.

Some of those guys had played together for years in u19s, in multiple flag sides too. Dunno if its the same situation but it seems like the same idea

Out of Archer, Bonar, Bergman, Goater, Perez and Dawson, if two or three of them make it but they all work together and learn the system at VFL level then those that come into the seniors do so with a better preperation than if they didn't have all that work together. Not everyone in that mid/late 80s u19 team went on to play in our 90s sides.

Avg 23.5 touches over the last 2 weeks while taking 16 marks. He couldn’t be any worse than Corr, who is so uninspiring.

Agreed. Playing him in the backline so must be keeping him for depth there - yet he isn’t played when players are injured or out of form? Then they don’t even try to move him around. I like the continuity he’s getting in his game but allow him another chance in the 1s from time to time, can’t be any worse.

Needs a run in the one's to see what he's got. Give ziebs a rest and or leave corr in the vfl. Hopefully that lights a fire under corr to extract the digit, have a big preseason and give us something for the remainder of his contract.

I don't think a guy who averages 8 touches a game would get anywhere close to being described as a superstar.

Stats and logic says that's right.

But he could be a best 22 player at least- but we'll never know unless we give guys like him a sustained run.

We're developing. He's playing well in the 2nd's and there are blokes no longer cutting it at the level.

Why does everybody have to be a superstar?

It's such a stupid comment, we don't need a team of superstars, we need a group of solid, reliable players who will compete week in week out, can handle the pressure when applied and who work well as a unit. The actual superstars like Sheezel, LDU, Wardlaw and Larkey will add the gravy.

As for Dawson, I thought he was pretty good in the games he played last season and has look very solid in the few VFL games I've watched this season, it would be remiss of Clarko/Ratten not to give him a run at some stage this season.
