Love these threads that start about "bashing/hating" X player, the regulars jump on board enthusiastically, and.................

............. are usually based on little substance.

Other than (not me) a few posters commenting on his condition in the changes thread, where is this alleged bashing?

The long bow theory is also rife on here.

I agree that he could be fitter.

I love Loose but I have to admit some of his tackling attempts were a tad pedestrian. He does look a bit chubby, is he having a phantom pregnancy thing going? :stern look

most of the bashing was about him being fat and unfit, which I don't understand...

Glad someone else thinks this, too. It's baffling that people are running with this.

It's possible that he is slightly injury hampered at the moment. Probable, in fact. But to suggest he is overweight and aerobically unfit is just ridiculous.

EDIT: Ummm, as Deep Wells just said.

i think his problem, along with a couple of others in the team, is that when he does make a mistake it tends to be pretty memorable/costly. A such it stands out when thinking out about the game.

He then does the team things structure wise etc we can get pretty easily overlooked by some. He is massively important to as. And as has been said bashing him shows ignorance to just how important he is, shows you miss the things he does that allows the others to stand out.

I can understand why people have said he looks a bit overweight (he does), but I also don't agree or accept it is affecting his output.

You are right, he is probably carrying something and his movement appears hampered. Key player that's for sure when 100%.

Surprised to see this thread. He would be our most under rated player. Brave, makes good decisions and is excellent by foot.

It was not a shocker, but not great, his name is loose for a reason , but would have him in my team every week, as he brings the back line together.

Not sure why you would hate him, a real north man.

I think the bashing has been aimed at his physic. He seems a bit heavier then normal.

I don't have a problem with that as long as he is playing well and he is playing well! A important member of our back 6 make no mistake..

Seemed to be bashing himself after a few contests against the 'Scrays.

Must continue
to pull his weight.
Hungry players below.

His pass to Daw streaming through the middle was sublime, was probably jealous of Atley and Mullett getting all the praise for the rebounding work.

#42 Scott McMahon

Summary
One of the veterans of the backline, McMahon endured a poor season as he struggled with fitness and as a result, had his colours lowered more than once. He missed the first game through suspension, but returned for the next 10 games. His consistency was poor, and an ankle injury saw him sidelined for three weeks. A call-up for the Friday night match against Carlton proved to be McMahon's last appearance of the season, as he looked far from a footballer and was subbed out in the third quarter. Played out the remainder of the year in the VFL. This pre-season looms as an extra important one for one of the most popular clubman at North Melbourne, as the best 22 does not include him with the form of Lachie Hansen and Aaron Mullett pushing him out.

Quote:Playing football is full of challenges, but finding form and breaking back into an AFL team can sometimes be one of the toughest tasks. That's the situation facing two of North Melbourne's most experienced defenders Scott McMahon and Michael Firrito, but neither has given up hope of returning to the Roos' best 22 before the end of the year.

Quote:Scott McMahon has declared himself fit and ready for an AFL return after successfully negotiating a tricky week following an ankle injury.
