Not that fat.
Not surprised. they would not have agreed to take him on and not offer Eyre a contract if he was still well over weight and not a good way into his training program.

Honestly, from where he’s at….if he puts in a really solid block there is no reason he can’t be in great shape by round 1.

Tippa has always tended to start seasons looking like he’s been cut from granite….the challenge for him is usually maintaining that over a season.

To be fair, I remember watching a "reaction to AFL" video, and an African American fella asked the exact same thing when he saw the run down tackle of Dusty Martin. It's possible that it's a question asked by international people, as anyone who knows the game, knows who he is.

How's he tracking Tippa - I've seen a few reports saying he's in very good nick in 2023 - is he a chance for a round 1 spot?
even with fitness up, hasn't played competitively since 2021.
I'd give him whatever time needed in the VFL to find match touch. though the hawks might just be at that standard anyway so.......

Having missed pretty much a season he has to gradually build the fitness base back and do it without the soft tissue issues he had last pre season.
Would like to see him ready in round 1 but it may be a few games in after some VFL games.

If he's fit enough he's playing. End of story!

Scott said he's the best Essendon player with the ball in hand already, so touch isn't a problem. Small forward was one of our weakest positions last year. So he gets in just because he doesn't have much competition for that spot.

He'll have the practice and intraclub games to show he's fit enough, which will include his ability to recover, but if that is all good he's straight back in for mine.

However, building up that fitness may not have occurred, so we'll wait and see on that.

Don't think anyone is saying he's not in if fit, just what's the definition of fit for someone that's missed a season of footy and had some injury issues before missing?

I'd like to see him get through preseason and build some genuine match fitness in the VFL for a few weeks however if he gets through preseason and runs out the preseason games well with no issues, no injuries, then I'll probably reassess.

Definitely no rush though. I'd prefer him at full fitness in the seniors from round 4 where we hit our tough block of matches than bring him back a bit early and he gets niggles or worse a decent soft tissue injury.

i'd even go a week in VFL for match fitness, but it tends to start behind the AFL season yeah?
Guess with the sub as a safety net, we could roll him out Rd1 v Hawks. though their backline is where they're up to standard. But as fishardansin said, Scott sees him as a quality piece of the side. so reckon it might be he plays early and develops touch over the first couple of games.

Match fitness should be built from match sim, then intra club, then oractice match vs another club, then proper PS game vs oppo

He came back early and has been doing basically every session hasnt he? If that continues for another month and he has no further injuries then hes playing round 1

If he is not on a modified program. Remember he had no training at all for several months.
