As much as he's obviously a real chance of leaving, given he still hasn't signed, I would be really surprised that he'd leave if we signed Clarko. Given we have the cap space, surely we'll be able to put a deal in front of him that he will be happy with. The only issue would be if he's already committed to another club, but even that can be overturned as we well know.

What would be a fair contract to offer him? I'd say 3-4 year deal worth around 600k. Would he want more? Probably yes, but given how inconsistent he's been it would be dangerous to offer more. In saying that, he has the X factor we so badly need, so at the end of the day may have to pay a bit more.
Yeah 600k x 4 would be fair imo

He’s a 2 goal a game forward in a proper functioning set up.

$700k x 4.
Pretty close to what we offered brown, it’s hard at his best no question he’s worth it but if we do get the two month “ “ “warm in” to the season thats occurred two yrs running then we are screwed.

Our whole side was a rabble for the 6 month "warm in" so not sure Cam was the only bloke not clicking from the get-go.

Of course and it’s a good point but it’s happened two years in a row.

Sooner keep him than lose him however

Well according to Jon Ralph the three highest paid players we have on our books are Cunners, Ziebell and Polec, at about 700k p/annum each.
I assume Cunners would get around the same next year, Ziebell may get a one year offer on about 1/2 that after his 2 year deal is up, and Polec will either get paid out or become the VFL's highest paid player until his contract is up at the end of next year.
Looking at the calibre of other forwards reportedly around that mark of 650-700k - Lobb, Wingard, Charlie Curnow, Charlie Cameron, Tom McDonald, Michael Walters - Zurhaar doesn't seem like an outlier, and factoring in his future improvement potential, it suggests that price represents pretty decent market value, even without taking into account how badly our poor old side needs him.

how can anyone seriously say he had a "warm in" in this season? he literally was working with half the i50 of the opposition and of those i50 the vast majority are 2 or 3v1 situations.

only now is the team defending high up the ground that he has a chance and it's showing. throw in an in form comben or ccj and he'll have so much more space and quality crumbs to work with.

I think Curnow is on more than $650-700k but if that is correct we should be making massive plays at both him and Harry next year and see if one bites.

Larkey had the double teams mate

I thought we copped it pretty hard on Brown with the media but the main damage from them was when we said we weren't offering him a contract because they endlessly asked us if we were giving him a contract. It had all settled down by trade week (I think in part due to the lack of suitors).
in that last year for us, I don’t think he really did himself any favours either.
We simplified the game plan, and he couldn’t get it to ground, couldn’t even make a contest. Basically showed the rest of the comp his biggest weakness.

If we lost him then that would strengthen the priority pick argument significantly. I'm blinkered but I just can't see him leaving. Don't think he's that kind of character. Reckon he's the type to tell his manager that he wants to stay at North but get me as much as you can.

We don’t even have a recruiting team to negotiate lol
Brady will send out a mail to the members that we've pulled the deal for Zurhaar off the table and asked him to find a new club.

Meanwhile he'll be negotiating terms with Heppell to bring him in on a 5 year deal.
