Re: 34. Kyle Hardingham

He did Ok considering he came on as a second half substitute.

His attack on the ball is fine, he was prepared to back himself and run to the contest, and his reading of the play seemed to be acceptable.

Go back to the NAB Cup 2009 and one M.Hurley come on as a second half substitute and got cut up by J.Anthony ( not comparing Hardingham to Hurley of course ) but suggesting that it can be difficult to play your first game as a second half substitute.

I am of the opinion that kicking under pressure may be an issue - I expect him to play 10-15 games.

Re: 34. Kyle Hardingham

Many WAFL followers (at least on BigFooty) keep comparing him to Greg Broughton; a few have even said he's better.

I stand by him looking too fragile for AFL football, but the composure and aggression could simply come down to being settled.

I'm sure we'll get a decent look of him this year.

Re: 34. Kyle Hardingham

First match.

Remember what Watts did in his first match? Nothing.

To be fair to Watts, you are comparing an 18yr old twith a 21yr old.

I remember Jonathon Brown playing his first game and not getting near the ball - 0 possessions.

Brown turned out OK.

A players first game is not necessarily a foolproof guide to his future prospects.

Re: 34. Kyle Hardingham

Looked ok physically but was really sucking in some big ones towards the end. Might need to develop a better engine to compete at AFL level.

Read the play ok and positioned himself well but his disposal was terrible.

Was selected in the PSD in December, so probably doesn't have the fitness base of some other players.

Re: 34. Kyle Hardingham

Looked nervous more than anything... made some horrible errors but so did a lot of others on the night. Needs to have some big games for Bendigo before he is considered for senior selection again.

Re: 34. Kyle Hardingham

In light of Kyle's debut this week I've copied across his thread from the Player Watch sub-forum to comment on.

Fingers crossed he helps ease the pain of the 'B' word.

I'm hoping he finishes that epic thread you started on the worth of slattery :D

Re: 34. Kyle Hardingham

Ahh, I see.

We'd be in a pretty decent position if Slattery was pushed to 2nd or 3rd choice small defender, IMO.

From what I've heard though, isn't Hardingham more of a third tall, like McPhee? Whereas I thought TSlatts was a tall/small defender.

Re: 34. Kyle Hardingham

Whole-hearted player who gives 100%.

Good reader of the play, can zone off and be third man up, can play on smalls or mids, will provide run from defence, above average in the air for his height, can make disposal errors.

Overall an exciting player.

And I thought I was being clever.

He is better aerially than Slatts but I certainly see him as a medium defender playing a slattery type role, although there are plenty on here that have seen more of him.
