Re: #34: Kyle Hardingham - Worst kick at the club?

The gap between his best and his worst is the biggest of just about any player in the league. I'm not sure players like that can play in finals if teams are hoping to win. His best is outstanding but he has played some stinkers at the G in big H&A games. Just appears to be in his head, once he dropped the chest mark that went for a turnover goal they could of subbed him, was no good after that.

Re: #34: Kyle Hardingham - Worst kick at the club?

He is doing very well defensively, a very important cog in the team

Seemingly the club has identified a weakness and now he is instructed to punch at all times. That is fine - an exceptional spoiler, probably pound for pound the best going around with his leap and timing to play on guys bigger than him.

IMHO the next step is his brain fades. He, like Hooker seem to be fine when kicking long down the line, but going short or taking risky kicks is simply not their go.

For me, like punching Id instruct Kyle to go long down the line and play the percentages at all times.

But, like Hooker, dont let a couple of brain fades hide the fact they they are doing an absolute exceptional defensive job and give their all in every contest. Cant ask for too much more.

Re: #34: Kyle Hardingham - Worst kick at the club?

I thought that a few glaring turnovers aside Hardingham was brilliant again. He killed an obscene anount of contests and his ability to win the ball on the ground and break a tackle to give the ball off was crucial on a few occasions.

He is in the unfortunate position of being close to the opposition's goal when he turns the ball over. It overemphasises his mistakes because they are mistakes that sit with you as a frustrated fan. Watson has vastly improved his kicking but he still sprays 2 or 3 a game (about 8 last night). Watson's turnovers cost us goals and allowed the opposition to hit the scoreboard as well.

On top off all of this he gives his opponents a bath each week.

Into his third year on an AFL list I am pretty confident that Hardingham can iron out the few poor kicks poor kicks each week. I would have him in our best 3 or 4 from last night.

I'd be more concerned if the mistakes he was making were starting to effect his confidence. But to his credit despite the couple of atrocious turnovers in the last quarter he was deep in defense under immense pressure he backed his abilities, shrugged a tackle and ran it out of defense and hit a target. It was an awesome play late in the game.

It is what we are going to get with him and I don't think we should be asking him to.simplify his game too much. This is only his 3rd year in the AFL. There is still a lot of improvement left.

Probably a straight swap for Hibberd come finals time

Re: #34: Kyle Hardingham - Worst kick at the club?

My only gripe is that he turns it the ball over once a game when he tries to centre it, always resulting in an opposition goal. The idea is right, the execution isn't.

Re: #34: Kyle Hardingham - Worst kick at the club?

Apart from 2 big mistakes I thought he was great last night and pretty much cleaned up his man with ease.
This.

People forget he's only 36 games into a career. Remembering back, how well were Hooker, Watson, Stanton kicking it at the same stage? Not that well?

2 or 3 howlers, and easily his worst half for the year, came back from that, defended well all night, and was crucial in our win. Big picture is still looking pretty good.

11 x 1%ers is a fair effort too.

Plenty of culprits for turnovers on Sat night and many worse than him. Look no further than the skipper who was horrible in the third term in this regard.

His ability to play tall and small is critical. His ability to be third man up is super. Key part of the defence and his game still has plenty of upside. Ahead of Hibberd for mine. Stucutrally he provides flexibility which Hibbo doesn't at this point.

Re: #34: Kyle Hardingham - Worst kick at the club?

It's been said elsewhere, when Hardingham kicks off 1 step he isn't great, when he builds momentum and kicks through the ball he is generally very good. Worst kick in the club is a stretch.

Once he plays to his limitations he will be more valuable than he already is (aka Hooker). He can not be dropped due to the role he can play on small and medium size forwards, not to mention his ability to take intercept grabs and kill contests.

He is reliable enough to play finals and will only get better the more games he plays.

Was fantastic all night as stated with a couple of big, glaring errors. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water in this case, very good in the air and desperate at ground level.

Needs to be told to kick it long down the line until skill level under pressure gets just that little bit better.

Hibberd for Carlisle I would have thought, if Dyson keeps form,

Hardingham is becoming the bombers unsung hero lately really like the guy and the way hes going about his footy!

Used to be Howlett but hes just to consistent now to be 'unsung'. Hardingham one of our most under rated and unsung for sure - love the leap on him - will be a premiership player for the Bombers - bookmark it

His last month has been very average, 3 out 4 games his opponent has done the most damage.
Did a fantastic spoil against Port that saved a certain goal though, give him that ;)
