Jye Amiss is a class above but there are certainly similarities in his movement and the way he hits up at the footy.

His set shots look a bit robotic but they go straight and they go a long, long way with seemingly minimal effort.

If we didn’t go project KPF now it would have been soon so we may as well.

I get the sense he's been brought in to help put selection pressure on that resting ruck/forward role. We've seen Phillips do OK in patches, but he's almost ready for the glue factory, and Bryan looked OK last week but probably still needs more time. Putting those two aside, it means Weideman really has no competition for that spot in the full strength squad (assuming Wright and Jones at FF and CHF).

Ideally we'd have Hunter, Weid and Bryan all fighting it out to take that slot going forward. Healthy to have a bit of pressure on roles in the side.

Looking at some of the footage he might also be a handy understudy for that Jones role: roaming up and down the ground and opening up the forward 50 structure for the others to lead into. Will be interesting to see how much ground he can cover in game and if he can put pressure there as well.

Cannot complain about this pick
i was hoping we used a second pick and took a chance on Callum brown as I think he is a better footballer than Nick hind and has shown the capacity to play as a small defender
i think this selection is the last nail in the coffin for mcbride
lastly I like reading peoples mock drafts but when I read them I expect the authors to be plonkers like me who don’t watch all of the wafl, sanfl and Coates league in great depth.
good call Ed who called hunter very early

Callum Brown? Really?

The admittedly 150secs of vision I've now seen of him, which is pretty much exclusively him kicking set shots... I don't like his ball drop/the way he holds the ball.

It doesn't look straight, but if anything the top of the ball is too far forward, so the angle of the ball is almost pointing back towards his legs.

Now shockingly, all these kicks on his highlights packages have gone long and straight through, so what would I know. But I'm interested to watch.

Yeah I just watched the video above your post and that ball drop is exactly as you described. Bloody odd looking.

Targeting another tall forward was definitely the right move list wise. I just hope he is not another forward that will eventually turn into a defender. Also does anyone know if he can take a contested mark?
