Tigers have too many good players in the reserves, we need to move on higher-priced-but-replaceable first teamers every year to make way for the RCD and Humpty types.

I like Brando, but he’s not irreplaceable...
this is the Luke Beveridge fallacy...

some depth is good.

too much depth will hinder
*how so?

someone else answer... but if players feel uncertain come selection time, those with concerns, and doubts, it will reflect on their season long performance. The counter position, it would actually steel<verb> the 22 with vigour and self-confidence. Plus immaculate discipline off-the-field.

so I may be incorrect. But as I call it, the LukeBeveridge fallacy.

Another Hawthorn fallacy is players need to have the potential to play in multiple positions, "flexibility" is the word du jour, and rolled out in support of Pickett Richmond iteration choppy.

Well, this would not fit with the key to our back 6, them having an acute intimacy and knowing the running patterns of all their 5 back teammates...

again, I could provide you with the positives and counter-factual, but I believe it is a Clarko/Beveridge/Dimma w@nk of self-justification and self-adulation. Just like this stupid post of mine here.

This must be at another level. I don't get it.

too many players cant make the best 22.

you have 44 who are another sides best 22

ergo, =/= (not make) a happy family.

there must be liquidity in the players from 14-30. But those player want/need regular selection. So is 35 players as <top 22> too much?

Brandon gave the club 8 years and his body on the way to helping us to 2 flags. He would have to take a significant pay cut to stay and understandably that's something he doesn't want to do. I think he has given the club enough to be entitled to make that choice with all of our blessings going forward.

Ellis goes with our blessing and will always be welcome back to the club as a 2 x premiership player and life member

I think the club has gone past Ellis and Ellis has better earning potential elswhere , Will be hard for him but only has another 5-7 years to set himself up for life and deserves to do that.

Im with you on that one. No reason to pot a player who has been a regular in our successful teams of the last 3 years.

We wont miss him so not sure why anyone would be upset that he is going.

(thats not a pot just a reality that we have blokes pushing for selection who have more talent that our good servant for 8 years)

Genuinely think it is better for both him and the club to leave.

Although jeez imagine leaving the incredible culture at punt road for the Suns. Not sure any amount of money is worth that

I was thinking that yesterday when he looked to be enjoying the after celebration as much as anyone. Had the 'Money can't buy this' look on his face.

He must have heard Lynch telling the boys what its like experiencing the difference between the two clubs and know that he is in for a reverse experience.

He was a good player for us. Certainly not the worst premiership player in anbody's history. Did his job. Did a lot of good jobs for us.

My concern with Ellis always was - he's a stationary player. When he receives the ball, he seems to freeze for a split second - he never hits the ball at pace. As a result, he has to do those little stuttery steps to get running again, and that looks bad. He's always calling for the ball from a standstill - he's doesn't do enough 'running to receive'.

It's odd for a guy who is known (correctly) as 'gut-runner'. But he only seems to do his running off the ball.
