He has improved his output that’s for sure. But I can’t fricking stand him losing his feet all the time. Improve that and he has a future .
That has been a problem with our players all year, even at Marvel. So many slips at crucial times while the opposition seemingly have no problem staying upright.

Agree 100%, happens every game, to multiple players, just about time for full footwear review, maybe the sacrifice of a little bit of comfort for increased traction is worth it.

Class kicker inside 50 just weights it so well, underrated in this aspect

Always been a good mark which he puts on show weekly and using his tank to get to more dangerous spots now
He is a player that is a 7/10 with most aspects of the game. He has never strung a consistent season together, the closest being 2022 where he was playing on a wing.

The HF/wing is his jam as he can impact a range of contests, in spite of his mediocre speed.

Needs to remain in the side for the rest of the season.

I respectfully suggest we should be offering curtis a 2 year extension.
Devil's advocate. He's played one good game in the seniors all year. And in the entire season to date, he's only been selected to play five senior games in a likely bottom 2 team.

Why would you offer him more than 1?

I want to see more before I offer him any.

Really noticed it last week in the second half and again last night. If they didn't fall over, they took way too long to turn around, especially in the centre square.

All fair questions - my reply begins with the observation that the AFL player "labour market" is, like all markets, one where people with bargaining power will do ok, and those without, are at the mercy of decision-makers. Thus "marginal" footballers have virtually no bargaining power - they have to wait on club decisions, often well after the season ends.

But for those with some market clout, the roles are reversed a little, and players hold more of the whip hand.

I think there's a general tendency on BF to assume 'players will take what they're given' (and should presumably be grateful for it).

Curtis Taylor is 24, played 70+ games and is playing good football (in the sense of the 'good ordinary' that every club needs).

If we want him to walk, offer him 1, but as night follows day, Taylor will get a 2 year contract at another club.

If he's turned a corner he'll show he's worth 2 years over the rest of the season I reckon. Right now he's playing like he did last year. Which is okay but is it enough?

I think he'd need to back it up a few more times.

The Collingwood game was a monster one, career best.

He "almost" backed it up on the weekend.

He took 2 very big contested marks at key points, the i50 to Sheezel was also good, which are huge ticks. Outside of those two moments, they were games inline with some of his others.

You can't ignore those moments though.

I don't know if I'd go as far as saying I'd be offering him a 2 year deal yet, but he'd definitely have a 1 year extension on the table.

I'd want to see another 1 or 2 Collingwood performances on the table before having a multi year deal.

He's in his 5th year, multi year deals for development purposes are now over.

At least another two of those games I reckon.

But those big marks you mentioned ... if he regularly has moments like that in games it could be worth keeping him for that alone. To me our lack of contested marking has been something that has cost us. if he regularly takes contested marks that benefit the side (once a week or more,) and we start winning a few to finish the year and those marks play a part, then maybe two years is worth it. We have 50 less contested marks than the leading team and we rarely seem to take them when trying to break out of defense.

I think he adds alot to the team when he's on structurally, like we just have better linking up the ground and some additional bodies in the contest that he's a really strong Mason Wood type utility player.

Part of me thought he had the tools to be a weapon up forward pretty much what Paul Curtis is now, but I don't think the coaches see him as that anymore or how he fits in.

It is about that time now however he should be putting some weight on and getting fitter, I don't think he takes the actual training part of the job seriously enough but on gameday he runs his guts out.

Vote early, vote often

North Melbourne's Curtis Taylor has earned a Mark of the Year nomination for his spectacular pluck against the Demons on Saturday night at the MCG.

As the Roos looked to rebound from their defensive 50 midway through the third quarter, Taylor got the sit on Melbourne's Ed Langdon and reined in the grab on the half-back flank.

The 24-year-old finished the match with 14 disposals, seven marks, and a goal assist in his fifth game of the season.

Taylor is up against Fremantle forward Josh Treacy and Geelong defender Tom Stewart for the outright Round 15 nomination.

Works very hard with his running but like a few players on our list in the same age range it’s embarrassing seeing them get brushed off when they attempt to tackle.

More like the old Taylor yesterday had a couple of good moments but went unnoticed for the majority of the game.

Still I think the bullies exposed us for our lack of explosive pace.

I hope we persevere and we can find some quicker types to compliment his game style . Which is actually a crash and bash approach.

And his tackling style is wrong. He’s normally flat footed and taking on an opponent head on. Never gets to the side or behind. Near impossible to make those tackles stick.

For me Curtis T has moved from "call off the experiment and give a kid his place on the list", to "keep him unless we can get a ready made upgrade in a trade". His improved performances and perhaps even B George's injury make him useful on the list. One year only I think, or a performance trigger for a second. I don't know if anyone else would offer him more than a year anyway, and I'm wary of his fluctuating form/effort over the journey so far.
