thanks Teague. Nice legacy
Downing tools and heading West amidst questions over his workrate isn't a reflection of Teagues legacy.
Unlike some, SPS was given a game regardless of output and even as others were outpointing him a role was created for him in the defensive half.
The question for me remains that he's undoubtedly got the talent, does he have the drive though?

I think most of us could see this coming.
  • Played out of position for the last two years
  • Is a natural ball-hunter forced to play as an accountable backman
  • If anyone heard him talking to Syd Jackson during our tribute to Syd, you could hear how upset he was to be playing down back
  • Dropped numerous times
  • Played as the medical sub countless times
When this happens young players (he's 23 y.o) naturally feel homesick.

I am a fan of Samo's. Really think he has the tools/skills/game sense to be a top level midfielder. Yes - he's not overly quick. Yes - he seems quite laconic. But at his best I think he is an asset to any team.

Unfortunately we have whipped the life out of him, so his only option (as he see's it) is to go home and start afresh.

Hoping we can make this a good trade for us as I can see him becoming a very good player for West Coast.
Yep I remember the chat with Syd. There was a mix of confusion and disappointment in his voice. Blind Freddy could see he knew the back man experiment was not going to work.

Amazing how quickly the time goes.

When he debuted I was working in Abbotsford near the Nike factory. Went for a walk at lunchtime time and saw this young guy coming out of there in Carlton gear but had no idea who he was. Went to the game that night and saw that same guy run out against the Tigers.

Sad to see him go but I wish him all the best and hope he gets the chance to fulfill his talent.

This is not good, another player cast down by Teague's poor decisions.
Our development has been terrible across a host of areas and players, no doubt the way played him the past few seasons has no benefit to him at all but he like a few others, definitely share some of the blame on their own end with poor workrate and attitude…
On both coach/assistants and players…

No Plan B; run ons by opposition teams of 5+ consecutive goals; playing players out of position; playing favourites. All amalgamates to form a legacy to me.

So that would be "no".

It was pretty clear I wasn't querying whether he had some sort of legacy. I was querying whether one player wanting to return home had anything to do with it.

It's not exactly uncommon for out of contract players to leave.

If those stats are correct confirms my thoughts about Cerra….
we have a number of high draft midfielders that were given very little opportunities the last couple years…keep pick 6 or turn it into 2 second round picks.
Or alternatively have a look at Cerra's stats for this year and hope that we can get a deal done for pick 6 rather than draft another prospective sps and find out in 4 years that we gave a bust.

Hey friends,

Seems the more common vibe here is one of regret that he has asked to leave, almost as common as the vibe on the Eagles board of us ****ing up Brander.

Swap makes sense. Likely won't happen as trades rarely are that simple.
Doubt we'll offer much more than a third rounder but we're also able to be bent over, please don't be like Geelong and it's fans when it came to Kelly.

Anyway, seems simple enough to do. We've been nominated so our hand has been played.
