You guys have also followed him for 5 seasons now so have a higher opinion than me who watches Carlton play here and there.

Does he have upside to turn into a really good player? Because i swear i've seen him play some good games aka the one against the doggies.

I feel like his similar to Alex Witherton? Is SPS Chris Yarran from Wish without the pace?

Also anyone want to go for a coffee on Lygon after lockdown?

Brander was part of the 2017 draft and a teammate of Dow’s and O’Brien’s at Bendigo Pioneers and Vic Country U18’s champs & schooled together at Geelong Grammar…
Wonder if that could be a factor for him at all if he was interested in considering heading over to us…
cheers for that, had no knowledge of him whatsoever.........

Happy to make a trade, not happy to give away for nothing. Question is, what are WCE willing to spend to get him?

I think our recruiters would like to get back into the 2nd round. I know I would.

It's a shame he was an early pick but hey, draft picks can be much of a muchness in the top 30 and sometimes you get them wrong.

Remember him fairly well in his draft years, though he looked best suited as a tall forward, good lead, mark, agility, a beautiful shot at goal and kick in general…
Can play in defense but more suited atm to the third tall role, from games I’ve seen him play for WCE looks like a slow burn hasn’t clicked yet with the talent he was chosen for…
Pretty much like Paddy and Lochie so far as well…

in the same order as posed: yes, no, no, hell yes.

at his best, he’ll be an exceptional player who seems to find spac3 and time where others can’t. Harder than given credit for and an exceptional wet weather player.
capable down back, but better as a mid.

And fond of a long macchiato

he’s a star mate. Throw him on the inside and watch him create. If you guys can teach him when to gamble and when to just play the percentages then you’ve got a genuine talent in your hands.

I don't like that trade at all.

At 21 SPS was tracking nicely. At 23, he's worth almost nothing in that trade.

Meanwhile 21 year old Cerra is worth a first and a second rounder? It's just these small sliding doors moments. Timing is everything.

Meanwhile, whenever we stargaze and look at a player who is struggling elsewhere, because we think they will perform in our structure, our supporters scream from the rooftops they don't want them.

Effectively, Fremantle get Pick 3 for Cerra, even though they rate Brayshaw and Serong above him and he is their 5th best midfielder currently.

SPS is worth Pick 32 in this scenario.

We give up #6 and #32 for Cerra based on these values.

My question to the draft watchers ... would Cerra be worth Pick 3 in this year's draft?

Was hoping he'd excite me, but hardly got to those heights in 90-odd games. Even frustrating to watch occasionaly.

Don't begrudge him the move though; wish him well and maybe he'll find his mojo, but hoping we get a productive return from the trade.

He just finds time and space to make up for not being quick. He sums up the next option very quick. The issue is he almost always lowers the eyes to find a short option, rather than recognise the most dangerous teammate further upfield. Because of this, he often gives the impression he is slowing down the ball movement by going short constantly. He can tackle very well and is fairly elusive. Don't play him back if you are prone to turning the ball over and getting burned on the rebound as he won't beat his opponent back. The Eagles don't really play that game anyway.

very little hurt factor other than getting the ball 20 metres down-field to someone on his own team..........

Issue is half our mids run one way and don't tackle. Isn't he similar to that?
He can definitely tackle but he’s problem like a few others we have is also one way runners…

He plays his best footy on instinct and imo he was playing some wonderful footy in his first three seasons, obviously needed to work on the tank and defensive running/pressure without the ball…

Apart from the few deficiencies i feel he had he’s strength with he’s natural game coached out of him, trialed down back which didn’t suit him but was foolishly preserved with for way too long which caused his game, overall progress and confidence to suffer…

Look the running stuff is overblown for most teams. It’s all about whether your forwards pressure enough to give the midfield time to track back and get possession again. He’s not an elite runner but he isn’t a one way runner either. His tank is ok. Been training as a defender for the last 2 seasons though so needs to go through a preseason with the carrot of midfield minutes in front of him. he’s class mate and he does tackle and pressure when he’s playing forward of centre.

He will run when he knows he has to, but he isn't quick enough under those circumstances. Like many of our players, they don't have the nous to realise when an opposition player gets dangerous until the ball is sailing over their head to that player. Just doesn't seem to compute two or three possessions ahead so game sense is lacking.

I'm not sure how much of that was Teague's teaching and how much is Samo's football smarts. It's very hard to know whose fault it is when the whole team is doing it. You usually just see snippets of play highlighted, not the original domino that fell.
