SPS has almost zero trade value regardless of how we as fans may rate him. Uncontracted, out of favour, poor exposed form last 2 seasons, wants to leave. As a footy club you can’t stunt a players development and then when he wants to leave to WCE turn around and be like “oh he’ll turn out really well for you lot, we’ve just f’ed him around for the last 2 years. We’ll have your pick in the 20s thanks”

IMO he’d be lucky to be worth a third on the open market. There’s no chance WCE give us a second and a fourth for him as laid out in that scenario and if we turned that scenario into Cerra I don’t really think we come out of it badly. No chance of that happening though IMO
If his hamstrings are in good nick, he's worth something in the range of 15-20 in a draft where that will probably slide at least 5 picks. If not, I don't understand why West Coast would even bother.

I'd rather keep him either way, because if he can get his hamstrings right and lose a few kgs, he's a very complete winger.

Issue is half our mids run one way and don't tackle. Isn't he similar to that?
His last season (his third) as a midfielder he averaged over 4 tackles a game and was great. Don't read into his last 2 seasons at all. Teague was a diabolical talent developer and extremely stubborn. Wanted Sps to magically become macleod 2.0 and let the experiment go on for far too long.

very little hurt factor other than getting the ball 20 metres down-field to someone on his own team..........
Absolute nonsense. You preach about bad supporters when it comes to Murphy and only remembering the last 10% of his career but then you turn around and do exactly that with Sps. You've always been a shite supporter of his. Refusing to back him in. Just continuing it in here it seems as well as being a hypocrite.

Dinky kicks that the opposition, often, are able to intercept.
Would have liked to have seen what he would have been like under a real coach.

Why does he have to go to WCE why not Freo? Do a deal with them for Cerra and a third round plus a fourth rounder from next year.
EEEeeeeeeeevidence, please?

Has no ticker, can't stick a tackle and couldn't kick a straight forward goal to save his life...

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

I really do wonder sometimes what people are thinking when they wake up and find themselves posting this kind of thing.

I have no information, but a straight swap for Jarrod Brander appeals. Gives us a tall back up back and forward. We were fortunate Jones and Weiters stayed healthy all year. Would prefer some more depth.

Can agree with you that I’d rather keep him because I think he’s got tools and has been developed poorly.

But there is no way he is worth a late first-early second as your pick range implies. If we get that for SPS I’ll make sure that statue I build of Austin is gold plated

SPS had had plenty of opportunities at Carlton. 90 odd games where he had opportunity in the midfield, back and forward. Unfortunately he hasn’t cut it. For whatever reason he lacks the drive to be a reliable AFL player.

Cut our losses. We will be lucky to get a 3rd pick.

Hewitt will be a massive upgrade on SPS.

We’ll get a 3rd pick for him when he should have been one of the first names on the team sheet. Good luck to him but shame on Carlton.
I hope the new coach comes in and gets him to stay.

I think we just part ways. He obviously wants to leave and not vice versa.

Hewett and Cerra inbound. Club still has hope for Dow (I don't), Kennedy has shown some end of this year. Who would he push out in 2022 if he stays?

Straight swap for Brander makes sense.

I know not all players are the same but when you compare some of our underperforming talent to Walsh you just shake your head in disbelief. They just don’t seem to have the same drive for whatever reason.

Massive upgrade? maybe for tennis.

Maybe we aren't opening the door and pushing him out, but I doubt we were overly upset by the request.

He's had 90 games to show his wears and has played a handful of good games, even before shifting to half back he wasn't exactly lighting up in the midfield. Hence the move in the first place.

Jack Petruccelle?

Played some ripping games against Collingwood and Essendon to get us over the line a few times but those are becoming further back in history. Don't think we got to see him at a consistent best but not sure West Coast will see it either. Be interesting to see what kind of career he can carve out for himself.

Might be best described as a 'neat' player. Don't know what O'Brien's status is but him appearing and playing well at the end of the season would have helped sps make the decision.
