Just how many youngsters do you want to play? The names I keep hearing to replace are Macca, Pickett, Grimes, Prestia, broad and quite a few more. If more than 2 or three youngsters are played at any one time then we will become cannon fodder in this comp. we've seen North and Hawthorn youngsters thrown to the wolves and both sides are still languishing. Blooding of youth has to be done at a respectable pace otherwise they don't get the benefit of learning how to play correctly from experienced players and having some success along the way.
Green, Campbell, Brown have been in the senior squad at this time. Dropping more senior players before the young players mentioned have a few games under their belt will lead to us being smashed. Steady replacement of these older players is the correct option. Not dumping 6 or 7 like people are suggesting.
You are right. We can’t add too many new players. We already have Kosi and Dow that are new. Young and Gibcus are inexperienced. We can probably only add two more but I think we must make spots and play them

I’m not even saying we play an excess number of kids. Play Short, Ross and/or Rioli on the wings. Move Baker back to defence. Play Bolton and Martin predominantly as mids along with TT, Prestia, Hopper and Dow.

Macca and Pickett provide little creativity, very few goals, no line breaking speed.

I don’t like a team where our midfield/wing mix includes too many slow and/or ageing players… at the moment we have: Pickett, Macca, Martin, Prestia who are getting on in years. Then we have TT and Hopper who are not quick.

I don’t like the balance of the team at the moment and I believe we have the weapons in our team to resolve it immediately.

How much time do they need to gather evidence?

Always seems an element of sadism in police approach to drag out cases where insufficient evidence as some sort of ****ed up justice…

A magistrate has vented her frustration at the pace at which charges against AFL star Marlion Pickett are progressing through the WA court system, stating she would not allow the matter to stall any longer.
Pickett, who hails from WA but plays for Richmond Football Club in Victoria, was arrested in June last year in connection to a spate of thefts across WA from early December 2022 to January 2023.
But since his first appearance in court for a bail application that was granted allowing him to continue his sporting obligations, Pickett’s matters have been back before the court four times with no appearance from him and no progression of the issues.

On Friday his charges were adjourned by consent again, with magistrate Sarah Oliver saying she wanted the matters to progress on the next occasion.

“This has been at committal mention since October last year and the accused has not appeared once,” she said.

This is the fourth consent adjournment. No further adjournments by consent.”

Police prosecutors in the matter told Oliver there was a hold up over mobile phone location data, as well as “disclosure issues”.

Pickett has yet to enter a plea to the charges. It is alleged that he and his brother-in-law, along with four other co-accused, targeted companies in Perth in the suburbs of Nollamara, Girrawheen and Beechboro, and the town of Beverley, between December 2022 and January 2023. Police allege money was taken from safes. On one occasion, $325,000 was allegedly taken from a currency exchange.

“It’s said that the money is subject to some alleged laundering by the accused and co-accused in various states in Australia,” a police prosecutor told the court during Pickett’s bail application last year.

During Pickett’s bail application, prosecutors said he was tied to the alleged crimes because his phone “pinged” near one of the burglary locations at the time the offence was being committed.

It’s also alleged a campervan that was used to transfer some money interstate was rented in his name, and that he purchased clothing worn by the offenders.

Pickett then allegedly received payments of $6000 and $9000 into his bank account.

But defence lawyer David Manera said the case against his client was weak.

“The campervan that was rented in Mr Pickett’s name was taken by co-offenders across Australia,” he said.

It’s not that Mr Pickett has taken property across Australia in a campervan.

“And the phone tower ping in the area, your honour will be aware that type of evidence can often be unreliable.

“All it may show is that that phone may have been in that area, it doesn’t show that the offender may have been in that area.”

Police opposed bail, noting Pickett’s previous jail sentence in 2011. However, Manera said he had only committed one criminal offence since then, for which he was fined

He also argued that Pickett was the sole provider for his family, which included his de facto partner and his three children, aged between six and 13.

One of Pickett’s alleged co-accused, Kurtley Thorne, pleaded guilty to the same chargesPickett is accused of late last year. He will be sentenced later this year.

Pickett’s will be back before the court on March 27 and will likely be forced to appear in person, during the AFL season.

He’s innocent and nothing to worry about. Police looking for dirt as usual bc they have nothing on him. Wonder how many phones pinged in that area that night?. They must be all guilty. 😜
My phone pinged and so did my wifes

I thought he was terrible last night, dropped 3 sitter marks 2 of which cost goals on the turn over, looked a bit out of shape as well and we still don't know if he will be available in the future, might be time to replace him with one of the youngsters?
had 2 or 3 blunders but got a heap of it with 10+ good attacking plays and some nice defensive stuff...our best winger easy.

He hasn’t played a genuinely good game since he kicked the match winner against GWS last year.

Time to move on from Pickett and Macca .. they’ve both been great but we’ve got better options and youngsters who need development.

He also hasn't played in his best position since 2022/early 2023 as well, so don't think Pickett's form last season is something we should be looking at.

We (rightly) gave Jack slack in the fwd line last season because of Lynch's injury and a general consensus that Jack played through games he should've been managed, but we don't give the same slack to Pickett despite being played out of position? Seems strange to me.

Also, better players doesn't necessarily mean better options on the wing. Has anyone actually seen Rioli or Short play on the wing before to definitively say that they are better in that role? Or are we assuming that just because they are better players than Pickett, they automatically become better wing options?

A BF Tiger who lives over there may be able to provide clarity…But it seems like the W.A Police have a lot of power over there / get a fair bit of leeway…? I can’t recall a case - anywhere - having this amount of adjournments, without the judge/magistrate going off their head (undue impact on the accused etc)…Either the bang is still coming, or it’s gonna fizzle out to costs awarded…

The cops have got nothing on him and that’s why they’ve adjourned it so many times. They’ve probably tapped his phone hoping they can get something after the fact. They’re dirty dogs , but he’s going to walk unscathed bc if they had something on him he’d be in court by now. Plus the club would’ve sacked him , instead they’re supporting him.

I reckon the bro in law said to the cops he was related to Marlion and got the car from Marlion so they are trying to tie him to the crime. I reckon the bro in law has done the dirty on him and used his phone (probably without consent), car and even got Marlion to buy clothes etc.

I reckon Marlion had no idea that any of it was going to be used to rip money from a business and being on his wife's side of the family just did it thinking he was helping the family out.

Thats why I reckon the police are having trouble with prosecuting, actual evidence that he was there at the time the crime was committed.

How do you explain the large sums of money deposited into Marlion's bank?

My guess is that Marlion at the very least financed the operation, but the cops may not have enough to prove that.

$6 grand and $9 grand ..... yes large sums. Could be anything, could be money he loaned his bro in law previously and perhaps with this crime committed the dumb arse paid it back.

I reckon he will get off because he wasn't involved. Thats just my personal view you obviously have him hung drawn and quartered.

I'm with you. Sounds very much like he loaned his bro in law some money and a car, not too many questions asked, and then got paid the money back at the end without having a clue what was actually going on. Marlion's very tight knit with his family. There's zero evidence that Marlion was in the vicinity of any of the crimes, think all the cops have is his cellphone pinging off a couple of towers. A cellphone I should add that he probably also gave to his BIL.

The longer the cops stall the more likely it is that charges will get dropped because they've got jack shit. It would've gone to court by now if they had a good case.

nah bro if you do a few safes the first thing you do is bank transfer 15 grand doncha know

my take he lent his card to the bro in law normal stuff
some shyte goes down with stuff bought by the card
cops prejudge marlion based on race and form and jump the gun massively thinking they will just find more and more evidence on him
but in fact he is guilty of lending his wifes dh brother some dosh and that's about it
by then media have turned it into a circus and they can't back down for fear of looking like the pricks they are
adjourn adjourn adjourn from the prosecution side is almost always the death knell of their case
