I am surprised that anyone would want to keep JD when he's made a specific request to leave the club, and even more surprised some want to match a RFA offer in 2020 if he stays at EFC in 2020.
Happy for Joe to leave. Just want to ensure we don’t sell the farm for a bag of oats either just because the outhouse has a hole in the floor. I only comment in idioms from now on Bigfooty as it’s the only way to keep my sanity 😂😜😂

Yep- fair enough.

What are the chances that Joes management are using this “nomination whilst contracted” as leverage to get a better long term contract offer from the Dons?

With his injury history he is vulnerable if he breaks down again next year in a contract year.

For sure and I don’t blame them. There’s no guarantees but I think both clubs are confident he’ll be ok. Confident enough that both are willing to give a decent contract/extension. No doubt Sydney would have already had their medical look him over.

I’ve got a really simple theory when it comes to approaching and getting players to nominate your club. If you ain’t willing to go all in don’t sit at the table. Sydney would have known we would want a kings ransom for Joe so there is no point checking the river now. Either go all in pay up or fold and move on and maybe if we don’t persuade him to stay like Francis. Maybe your cards will look better on the next deal.

Good chance they do though. We’ve seen this shit for years when people start tearing into Essendon for not having a deal done within hours.

The Swans have got the whole trade period to get this done. They’ve clearly chased JD for some time (Harley’s epic bullshit notwithstanding) and committed to him. They’ve got a price to pay but they’re not just going to pay it without making lower offers first and seeing if they can get away with it.

True but then Kelly wanted to leave the Cats and he did alright for them this year.

Not something you’d close the door on. All depends on what the Swans offer (this year) and how he goes next season (next season).

Except Aaron Francis had no suitor.

Francis has no suitor who would pay the price for him.

If he’d been delisted at the end of 2018 and moved to Adelaide as he wanted to do, I guarantee you he’d have been on Adelaide or Port’s rookie list - at a minimum - inside a couple of days.

But they weren’t interested in trading what was required for him.

The Daniher situation may be the same.

Haven't you ever woken up next to your ex at least once?

I didn't say it was an identical situation. But for the club, it does give us reason to believe we could change his mind over the course of 12 months.

It's harder to change a player's mind if they have a suitor - Make the trade and get the best deal possible.

No. Both sides would have taken him but the offers where third or fourth round picks.

So no realistic suitor - And if Francis really pushed to leave a trade would have been facilitated.

He knows what Sydney nightlife is like since the libs turned the place into New South Boomerstan, right?

That’s getting wound back. Someone important was losing money it seems.
