We posted at the same time, didn't see your previous postI was talking in regards of the three "ruckmen".
Tbc is already as much a powerful forward as he is a ruck. That beanstalk will put egg on your face next season.Carlisle will be forward, we aren't going to have a forward line with the only talls in a resting ruckman and a second year beanstalk.
I hope you are correct because Ill wear that egg with pride. If he averages 1 goal a game he is tracking on par, if he kicks 30+ in the season that will be outstanding imo.Tbc is already as much a powerful forward as he is a ruck. That beanstalk will put egg on your face next season.
Bishes will be all over him. Looks like he has lost the derp.
Fair enough. I'm backing him for 2 goals + per game. He would do worse than that but I expect them to drop him before he falls away too far later in the seasonI hope you are correct because Ill wear that egg with pride. Actually, the one thing I really do anticipate from him is one or two big hauls early on. 6 or 7 goals once or twice against weaker opponents is a given in my bookI hope you are correct because Ill wear that egg with pride. Not sure Riewoldt was played forward all the time that year. He took 7 marks a game on average so I will be cool if jd does the same playing forward.I think you are expecting to much from him, I'll compare him to Nick Riewoldt who played 6 games his first season then played every game his second year. In 22 games he kicked 21 goals, if Derp does something similar he is tracking well.
Its interesting how many different theories can be put together. However, why have the lesser ruck play the position more, while the best ruck in the team covers the position of our best defender? There are 3 of our best players out of position in that scenario.
I'd rather they try to cover a position inadequately rather than pull everyone out of place. If you are happy with jd at chf, why play Carlisle forward as well? Tbc/Ryder and jd are all we need if they are in form. If they are not, swing Carlisle forward as required. I noticed Hurley saying he was enjoying playing back with Carlisle in training, so that indicates he will be at both ends.
Who's surprised about Carlisle forward? Or Ryder not being our number one ruckman? I'm not...The way we do it is:
Paddy ruck 65%, forward 25%, bench 10% roughly
T-Bell ruck 35%, forward 55%, bench 10% roughly
JD ruck 0%*, forward 85%, bench 15% roughly
*Do forward line throw in's and ball-ups when one of the other two are on the bench
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...y-2014-prospects/story-fni5f6kv-1226805298782He earmarked Ryder, Joe Daniher and key defender Carlisle as key forwards, and said he planned to use some midfielders as part-time forwards.
Carlisle, who has trained as a key forward this summer, played some scintillating football as a swingman last year but battled when started as a key forward
Looking back at the history of another "beanpole", Paul Salmon had two premierships to his name at the same age as JD will be playing next season (20 years old). Footy has changed, yada yada yada, my point is that he is ready to take marks and kick goals, whether or not that is in his best interest development wise is another issue. We can hold him back in an effort to keep him from injury until he puts on more bulk, but it will not be for a lack of adequacy as a forward if we do so.Who's surprised about Carlisle forward? Or Ryder not being our number one ruckman? I'm not...

What I mention acouple of days ago is the most logical choice with our list, in a perfect world I would rather Hurley and Carlisle both in defence but our list doesn't allow that. Ryder is a better ruckman but he is also more versatile around the ground that TBC so that's why TBC will be rucking more.
With Crameri and Gumby leaving and now TBC injured with only Chapman coming in, surely he is a guaranteed starter round 1?
Will we use him as a second ruckman to Ryder while TBC is injured or will they bring in another ruckman?
I agree Daniher to start round 1. I thought TBC will be back training again by Feb. I think he'll be ready round 1.
Out for 3 months with ankle surgery
Cheers, Thurlow upgrade?
Probably, but may also go Steinberg who was apparently the most likely to fill Crameri's shoes
No you are not asking too much. He was barely kept out of the team by Gumby when Gumby was getting 12 marks and 25 touches a game in the VFL. Even then he was held back rather than out competed. Unless he goes backward from last year, then he will be plenty ready for AFL this year. Also he doesn't need to set the world on fire, he just needs to attract a top defender and contribute to the forward structure. He will be fine...With Belly out we really need Daniher to step up this year but I think I'm asking too much of a young kid.
