Now I know nothing about medical science, but injuries seem to be getting longer and longer. Are we pushing these bodies to the limit that when they break they break significantly or am I just forgetting longer soft tissue injuries from the past?

Players do run further and faster during games than they did in previous eras, so I imagine the demands of fitness now mean rehab periods are longer than in the past.

Sorry to intrude, but Merrett is probably in my top 3 favourite players in the game and really gutted to hear this news. In regards to your statement, I did ask a friend of mine who works in this field about the sudden increase in these Ankle Syndesmosis injuries and he has a feeling it's because they tape their ankles and feet up so much now to try and avoid ACL injuries and the knee giving way that now it's instead moved to more issues in the ankles and feet because sometimes the ankle simply needs to roll. So it's sort of becoming a one or the other. Taping up the ankle helps stabilise the leg a bit more and might slightly decrease the risk of an ACL. However it means the ankle can't roll and doesn't have enough mobility when needed.

Somebody give me a reason to remain enthusiastic about the rest of the season.

We need to play finals football and we need to start winning finals yet we yo-yo on the periphery every list regen we have.

It will take a minor miracle to get that chance this year it would seem now that our midfielders are either injured or underdone and we are 0-2. I like to remain positive but this is an early extinguishment of hope for me.

You can leave the games a lot earlier

Watching a number of other games this weekend, there’s a number of other very poor sides right now.

We’re still a few years off when you’d expect this list to start peaking.

Enjoy seeing the growth of the young guys like Perkins, Martin and Durham.

This first 3 weeks was always likely to be a 0-3 start, that we almost snatched a win against Brisbane if we’d kicked straight is a surprise.

If Hawthorne and Carlton progress as they are and start winning finals before us then Nic Martin ain’t gonna be enough my friend.
Jye Caldwell?

Hawks are not that good.
Calrton should have played finals last year with the list they had . The absolutely should be playing finals now with Cera and co coming on board.

Sigh.

Looking for positives. At Caldwell can get some more centre square time now. Perkins too if he we had the luxury of actually letting him out of the forward line. Hobbs surely gets a call up now too.

This sport just absolutely sucks sometimes.
