What have they been doing?
Playing him as a down the line option in our team with his lack of physical size. Dropping him after being sub. Only trialling him in other positions in one game at VFL level.

They haven’t set him up for success like our other early picks IMO.

Hate to say it but you know what the joke / rumours are when someone is all of sudden or is strangely dropped as “managed” 🤔

Playing teenagers against dudes who have 5 or 8 years of pro gym development is wrong. Wardlaw is a freak. Duursma has the skills but needs more time before he plays against men

Gee this thread is super dramatic.
It's quite unbelievable. He had 3 touches against Tigers and not sure he got near it as sub against WCE.
I'm a big fan but you can't carry that level of impact so it's back to the VFL.
We're not in the four walls of the club , for all we know he might have pulled up sore from training or has an illness and yet now it's mismanagement or something more sinister.
Cadman comes in and out of the side for the Giants all the time and nobody bats an eyelid.
Happens at our joint and it's Defcon 1.

Exactly right.

Not every kid out of the draft is ready to make a consistent impact from day 1.

Young forward Zane Duursma won't be available for selection having recently undergone shoulder surgery.

Duursma, who was taken with the fourth pick of the 2023 National Draft, has played 13 games and booted nine goals in his rookie campaign.

"Zane had been dealing with shoulder instability in the back-half of the year which we were able to manage conservatively in enabling him to still train and play," White said.

"Last week the decision was made off the back of external advice to put him in for shoulder surgery.

"The rehab timeline will be 3-4 months before full contact, but it will enable a strong off-season of focusing on his running fitness and intensity in setting up for a big 2025."
