He looked pretty invested on draft night welcoming the newbies.
I think he suffers a bit because he's not that little fella that ended up playing blow job ball.

Still a bit torn by the looks of things big fella.I think some of that stems from the fact we could've had Reid instead of Duursma if we (the Suns) hadn't have tanked. I was so torn that day.
Did he have his collar up or down?I spoke to Zane on Sunday at the QLD members function and he came across as such a down to earth young kid.
This blokes a ripper of a lad and a ripper of a talent. Give him a few years to find his feet at the top level and I'd be backing him to prove his doubters wrong.
I think it's a moot point as my guess would be his departure from Port was mutual - I think Port went out in straight sets and his final series was abysmal and he was especially poor in the Brisbane loss.2yrs, then added 3.
I do not recall noticing that detailDid he have his collar up or down?
Not all NM people. Some don't waste any thought on would've, could've, or should've.I think there is just extra pressure on Zane with NM people through no fault of his own.
Reality is had we of lost that GC game it was Reid/Kerch instead of Kerch/Zane.
Then there was the potential trade for Reid, so an offer of Zane/Kerch and maybe/probably Goad would have got the deal done.
Reid will have a Carey/Ablett/Hird like career I have never been surer of a talent.
So to justify missing him like we did, you really need Zane to be a star. Kerch will be a really good midfielder without being a superstar IMHO.
If Zane is a flop we will rue missing Reid.
If Zane is a good player, it will probably be a toss up in whether we should of traded for Reid.
If he is a star we will be glad we never traded.
If we can't make something significant out of Sheezel, Wardlaw, McKercher, Duursma, and O'Sullivan....then I'm not sure Chunks Reid would've make alot of difference.Still a bit torn by the looks of things big fella.
I saw Reid and Kerch play in the same game in Hobart this year and Kerch was significantly better. Based on that day kerch goes at one, Reid at ten or lower. Reid's speccy (that day) wasn't as good as Duursma's either.
Oh really? That surprises me. I thought he was 25/26 and had entered free agency when he left. My bad.His brother Xavier did 5 years at Port (2019 - 2023). Would have got the 3 years as a 1st rounder, and probably tacked on 2 more years.
Maybe he was force feeding Harley, DimSims, Parmies, and Parmas.Let’s be thankful he didn’t turn up overweight as he was hanging out with Harley
Everyone should be like Sheezel. Yep I feel better.
Repeat after me - not everyone is going to be like sheezel
For me, I can totally see why the pick was made.
There is zero doubt in his ability, and if he reaches 90% of his afl potential he’ll be a star.
But
- currently Watson is way infront.
- Watson was likely to always start better than durz
- Watson is much more what we need from a positional point of view
- I’d pit my life savings on Watson finishing his career with 500+ goals
- why is durz so unfit? Clubs cited it as a concern (Sydney’s question to him), his family tested him about how lazy he is, and lastly I’ve seen it at afl level (poor chase as fresh man on bs west coast in Tassie).
- Will durz work ethic allow him to reach 90%+ of his potential?
Couldn’t give a stuff about Reid.
Watson is the one that hurts imo
Would be a hell of an effort. 64 players in the history of the game have kicked over 500.
AgreeKids a freak . Just you wait & see.
I like Watson.... But over 50 scoring shots is an interesting way to put it.Over 50 scoring shots in his first year
From only 18 games
So he has to play for 20 yearsI like Watson.... But over 50 scoring shots is an interesting way to put it.
Another 50 in his stats column - he only went at 50% for those scoring shots.
The AFL would not have given a first round priority pick for McKay ie pick 2 if we had pick 1.I think some of that stems from the fact we could've had Reid instead of Duursma if we (the Suns) hadn't have tanked. I was so torn that day.
And Dursma would have exhibited a tone more potential at Melbourne with a half decent side around people woukd be saying it was another shocking trade by Rawlings. It was never a matter of taking Watson or Curtin with the Duursma pick, if we weren't taking Zane we would have traded down. Hawthorn and Melbourne made offers that would have got us either Watson and Morris, or Curtin and Tauru (Melbourne's F1) for that pick. Whilst Duursma looks the most talented of any of those players, he will have to become an amazing player to improve our list more than either of the trade down options would have.
