I think the us Govt knew something big was imminent but no idea when or where.

Had family and friends wake me up and told me what was going on in New York.

Foxtel and C10 had great coverage of it, Foxtel still showed shows programmed, but had a ticker tape at the bottom informing us of the most evil terrorist attack in a Western country in history to date.

When the first plane went down, it was like oh a place crash, but when the second one hit and another hitting the pentagon, I kinder tweaked something sinister is going on. Hmmm fancy that, how smart. Only probably over a billion people realised that before me.

Firefighters and ambos are a very admirable job that will always have my respect. There is no ego's on display, they genuinely want to help those that cant help themselves.

Such a horrible day that's burnt into the mind of all of us. Looking back at all the posts in this thread on the 1st page, it quickly turns from Jokes and slight concern to panic and real confusion. I was around 8 at the time and really didn't understand what was happening but I remember everyone that I knew were shocked and afraid at what happened and that it could happen on our soil as well. I kind of wish I was older to understand what had happened on that day, when it was happening. Regardless who I think is responsible for this act (I've posted my views in the 9/11 thread) thousands of people died and millions of people were affected on this horrible day.

He didn't say Kandahar has 300 people, he says that would've been about how many civilians would've been killed.

And I'd presume he's taking the piss calling it "a little town". He'd be well aware that Kandahar is a pretty large place and probably presume the audience was too.

There were also reports of fire fighters being "assigned" to help widows of other fire fighters who lost their lives in the WTC. And then these guys developed relationships with these widows and left their original wives! Pretty sad...

You may have heard this one. The firefighters who died on September 11 their living spouse received insurance as a result of their death, which is fine. However, it led to a few firefighters shacking up with the recent widows and leaving their wives as a result.
