Switched it over to 7 to see what they were doing for the lunch break as I was getting annoyed at Warne's ramblings of Nigel Llong. Sydney to Hobart coverage... Promptly switched it back.

I’m normally a fox guy with Kayo at home. Down the beach house and only have FTA so I’ve got 7 on. I’m already enjoying 7 more. I like Vaughan, Isa, Skull and a few of the others on fox but the 7 coverage I’ve heard so far has been much better. Ponting, Lane, Katich, Mitchell, Blewett et al. are excellent. At least it’s great now to have the options to pick and choose depending on which callers you like.

I think his lack of popularity ( as a player, captain and commentator) among the public played a part.

I try to keep my criticism of Howie to a minimum to avoid it becoming a hobby horse, but I'd love it if he stoppped referring to his fellow commentators as ''the great man'' or great man''. It sort of comes across to me as if he's in awe of the people he's working with.

Before clarke started as a commentator i would have agreed but after hearing just how annoying he is I have to conclude even gandhi would have strangled him if he got the chance.

Same thing with kp I felt he got shafted after the ashes but you then hear him talk and you understand why his team wanted him long gone.

The only reason why people took Katich's side is because they don't like Clarke. Look at it objectively Katich looks worse.

I don't have Fox, but I watched a little bit of it last season. I thought it was better than Seven but not significantly better.

I hate Channel Seven's coverage of AFL and feared for the worst when they got the rights to the cricket. However, they have some decent commentators. I like Ponting, Katich, Lane, Mitchell and Blewett (even though he's not doing the test). Glenn McGrath is a bit vanilla but tolerable. James Brayshaw is better than he was on Nine (dependent on who his co-commentators are). I could live without Fleming and (especially) Slater.

Fox have a better team, but that is exepcted. Gilchrist, Guha, KOK and Mark Waugh are good. However, Shane Warne is intolerable. He waffles on about the same point over and over, never shutting up. He simply can't let it go.

Seems to me that some are underrating Seven's team because they're on Seven.

And likewise overrating the Fox team because they're on pay tv.

My hot take is that if someone had have done that to Clarke about half a decade or so beforehand it would have turned out much better for everyone.

Exactly. Katich's alleged reaction was way out of proportion to Clarke's alleged "crime".
